I expected a projection of strength from the super bigly strong guy that everyone promised. But instead, we see him complimenting Putin's commonsense approach and saying that Ukraine will never join NATO and Russia can have the land they're on now.

You can be disappointed in the statements that the Trump team has made, sure, but is any of what his administration has said untrue?
1) Ukraine will never retake the land that Russia has conquered without direct involvement of forces from NATO
2) The longer the war goes on, the more dire Ukraine's manpower situation becomes relative to Russia, which could lead to the total conquering of Ukraine
3) NATO directly involving itself in in this conflict could lead to disastrous escalation
4) The death and destruction occurring from this war is untenable and should be stopped as soon as possible
For Russia to "win" the war on their terms, they need to have conquered territory to "denazify" or whatever the fuck Putin wants to tell his country, and they can't afford NATO encroachment.
For Ukraine to not lose the war, they need to continue to exist as a country. It is incredibly valiant how they have fought, but it's ludicrous to assume they can actually retake that territory.
I think there's a middle ground security guarantee that we can give Ukraine that Russia would agree to without approaching NATO membership status.
And if we can broker the peace, provide a security guarantee to the Ukranian people, and get rights to the Rare Earth Metals for the U.S. to decrease our reliance on China, that is unquestionably good for American national security and industry.
I'm sorry for all of you, but history is not over and we need to stop pretending that it is.

Ukraine isn't going to get NATO, and they aren't going to get all their land back (if any). Stating those obvious facts seems good, although it puts a damper on the NAFO crowd. The sun will rise tomorrow.

I think the former was in his initial statement once he took office. The latter is him greasing the skids to get this going.
It does suck. Russia basically wins. At least there will be a DMZ with troops going forward. And Ukraine gets to keep the bulk of their country and EU membership. Sweden and Finland are now in NATO as a result of this as well.
Russia has serious problems going forward, however. They are down to about 137,000,000 people in their humongous country with nobody having babies. 20 years from now won't be pretty. Minority oblasts will start seceeding eventually. China is looking pretty bad too. 👍

For all the billions that Biden threw at Ukraine and his limp dick sanctions it didn't stop Russia. Reports that Russia was on the ropes were overblown. Ukraine didn't even manage to get back half the land that they lost over the last three years. It's effectively been a stalemate for awhile now, no major pushes by Ukraine to get that land back in some time. Short of us going to war with Russia, that land isn't coming back. Peace and rebuilding is the best Ukraine can hope for at this point, because the proxy war failed. It serves no purpose to continue throwing resources their way, peace is the obvious best result at this point unless you want a war with Russia. Ukraine gets peace, Russia keeps some of the land they won, we get to quit wasting resources. That's literally the best possible outcome given the current scenario unless you're suggesting actively going to war.
Trump has been a great buddy for Putin for sure. That's why he pushed NATO allies to meet their military commitments to put pressure on Putin instead of slacking on spending. He also warned Germany and other European countries to quit their reliance on Russian energy. That's what friends do, they try and torpedo your petroleum operations.

It's not what anyone wanted. My preference would be for Russia to retreat to where they were prior to this war, but it has become pretty evident that this is pretty much a stalemate as some have already stated. Trump doesn't want to continue pouring weapons and money into this. Rather than just pull all support and let Russia take Ukraine, he's going to negotiate a settlement that, while not what most of us hoped for will at least stop the bloodshed and let Ukraine get back to rebuilding their country.
Trump and Putin buddies? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Read somewhere that the current pace of the war it would take 200 years for russia to advance across Ukraine, and russia would run out of men well before that.
Ukraine is saying currently they are producing 200k drones a month. They are wrecking the Russian economy by hitting their oil stocks and refineries.

Nobody wanted to invest to rebuild Gaza. Egypt and Jordan didn't want to do it. So instead, Trump says "fuck it, we'll do it", which then causes the Arab world to bend over backwards to get it done themselves.

This. If Trump is able to get Jordan to facilitate a reconstruction of Gaza and assist in setting up a proper governance structure that's probably the best case for everyone. Israel get's to wash their hands of the area, US doesn't have to be the peacekeeper, Jordan already has millions of Palestinian refugees and won't be seen in the same light as the US/Israel, and Gazan's can finally get rid of Hamas. Eventually they should transition to a reformed PA and let them govern themselves.

Ukraine is basically out of soldiers. The status quo isn't an option.
Option 1 = Negotiate a deal
Option 2 = Increase involvement by directly fighting the Russians instead of just sending ammunition and equipment.

Only path I saw from the beginning was taking the fight to Russia. Attack their infrastructure and invade them back so they feel it at home. Biden put conditions on arms to restrict this which was very advantageous to Russia. Only way to level the playing field.
