I agree but free market people don’t want efficiency. They want to be free to do what they want when they want. This is Friedman type economics in real time.
Then they want you to feel free to bail them out when they fail. Then after a couple election cycles feel free to vote someone in who will freely erode those rules and transparencies so we can be free to ride that wheel again. Fun stuff.

They also say that he signed a separate contract with a collective which very well may be enforceable regardless of whether the MOU or other contract with Wisconsin wasn’t going to take effect until July 1st. We don’t know until this goes to court.

The tampering charges are easy to prove / disprove if you get subpoena power.

How about partial scholarship athletes? For sports other than football where those take precedence and have to be full scholarships ?

Wasn’t that an NCAA “rule”? How long before other sports get to take precedence? Do we even have a roster limit anymore? Class size restrictions?

I’m dead serious. We need to go ahead and get our four recent NIL signings into the team and have them ready to contribute by Monday. 😆 Let someone tell us we can’t do that.
Especially since the CFP doesn't fall under the NCAA anyways... you might be on to something here. LOL

Seeing what a shitshow the NCAA is just makes me more upset that we gave them all the information on the frozen 5. Every time I see those vacated wins on a list it pisses me off. Can’t we just tell the fuck you, those wins count?
Yes we can and should. See you in court NCAA.

If we wanted to throw OSU off their game this would be it. I’d honestly love to see whoever steps up to try and stop it and if they even could.

They are enrolled as of now, yes? Suit them up.

I would argue that in the case of a college athlete receiving a scholarship to a university in return for the athlete agreeing to play the given sport for that university would be considered a two party contract. However, the scholarship itself is not a contract.
That isn't really something to argue about, though either. It's something the school gives. All they can do is stop providing the financial aid and expel the student. It was the NCAA that restricted the ability of the student to play at a different member school and that rule is basically gone.

"Also effective immediately, Division I student-athletes who meet certain academic eligibility requirements will be immediately eligible at their next school, regardless of whether they transferred previously."

Division I Board of Directors ratifies transfer, NIL rule changes - NCAA.org

The scholarship isn't in question though is it? The contract is the NIL deal unique to the individual athlete
NCAA rules say an NIL deals cannot be tied to enrollment and the school cannot stop the player from going into the portal without a reason. It's not an employment contract (MAKE THEM EMPLOYEES!). It doesn't have a no compete clause.

Are you guys really suggesting that a Name, Image, and Likeness contract could legally restrict a player from transferring? I'm pretty sure that tying the contract to enrollment would violate antitrust laws and NCAA rules. They can be voided for a host of reasons (live x amount of miles from campus), but it can't stop the player from transferring.

The tampering allegation is between Wisconsin and Miami. It has nothing to do with allowing the guy to transfer.

Yes. The school is not supposed to be involved in any way with paying players. All funds come from a third party. All agreements are with. The third party and player. The player has to notify the school and the school is supposed to notify the NCAA lol. Likely the third party issues a notice to the school that the player will play for the school and be paid by the third party via some letter like a MOU but the school is unlikely to be able to legally hold that player based on a MOU

Sorry if this bump is too early after tonight’s loss, but starting tomorrow players on both teams have 5 days to enter the portal. Correct.?

We had 2 really good transfers this year.
Riley and Clark

Then you have Jeter, Rendell and Mitchell could have been used better especially on put returns.

Then the rest. This group needs to be better.

Transfers are literally why they beat UGA. This class was largely a HIT.

Rendell was very good down the stretch and will ride that into next year.

Harrison did exactly what they brought him to do at the biggest time.

We will never know with Mitchell. Too many WRs in a run heavy offense. Even Collins really. He was the number one and I had my issues with him, but too much running to really know what he can do. He made a big play in a big game and that’s how I’ll remember him.

The only transfer they truly missed on was Oben. If you replace Oben with a JJB, this team looks helluva lot different.

Chance Tucker, Deion Colzie, Jason Onye, Ty Chan, Jayden Thomas
Obvs we'll find out soon enough but I'll be a little surprised if Thomas transfers. The guy's a leader. He's never gonna play in the NFL but he could be a captain for us next year. Wouldn't you rather do that than go play for some mid ACC school?

And we'll see on Onye too but if he was going I kinda think he'd be gone by now. Whatever's going on with him may be better handled while enrolled at the University of Notre Dame than while transitioning somewhere else.

If Colzie goes, we'll always have him blocking on the wham plays.
