Kid is unflappable. I was so impressed with his poise, even after getting hit several times. Got his chance and made the most of it even with shoddy protection and a beat up OL. manufacturing a FG drive before the half was critical and saved out season, getting momentum into the half.

Props to this kid. Every time his number is called he makes the most of it. ND guy.

I really really hope he comes back. Kid is a winner and an ND guy. WHEN ND wins the title he will be a big reason why...and I hope people tell him that, he deserves it.

I’m not a film guy but from where I was sitting last night and besides the sack it seemed Angeli had really good footwork. Film guys is that accurate

If this kid could develop a better internal clock for processing, he could be an excellent college QB. He's accurate, decisive with his throws, and doesn't seem to wilt under pressure. He just needs to see things quicker.

That being said, he saved ND's bacon last night, and was absolutely critical to the win.

ALWAYS been a big fan of Steve Angeli. The first time I saw him in action (a Spring game, I think) I thought "That guy has the look of command and the proper flow of a college quarterback." I've always wanted him to get more reps and maybe even a chance to lead. (I felt the same way about Book.) Both guys had half the fans wanting them relegated to the third string if not out of here. Never could understand it. The ole "three star can't possibly be any good" moron viewpoint.

It surprises me that he is not going elsewhere. He's plenty good enough to start at a lot of programs. But, Good On! Young Man, in the clutch. Every team should have a bunch of "three stars" like Angeli.

Before the PSU game I was with my buddy at a bar. I wondered aloud if ND were down 14 late in the 3rd quarter, would they put Angeli in because of the passing ability?

Judging on what he did in a short span, I wouldn't take it off the table vs OSU and they definitely aren't prepping for it. They're prepping for Riley's legs.

I think he'll hang around even if he is not guaranteed the starting spot.
I'd say he and CJ Carr can both make a big contribution in 2025.

Said this to my friends before the PSU game and same goes for OSU...

If ND is down two touchdowns in the 4th and Leonard has thrown 2 picks, why not put Angeli in?

As long as ND has the lead or the defense forces two turnovers or more.

Does anyone truly have faith in RL tying up a game with OSU down two touchdowns in the 4th?
But ND didnt have the lead and the defense didnt force two turnovers yet they still won with Riley

I don't have faith in Angeli in this situation. Yeah, he is a better passer, but in this scenario OSU will not be respecting the run at all and will be coming after the QB with aggression. Who is better in that situation? I think RL.

Are we really talking about this?
This is like asking in 1988 if you rather have Rice or Graham starting

RL is more of a playmaker, IMO. He's not an elite passer but he's the type of athlete that can make plays against the very best in college football. Steve is a good quarterback but I just don't see it with him (as far as leading a team to a NC), which is why the coaches keep bringing in transfers until one of the younger guys are ready.

This is not to bash Steve at all, he did a great job against Penn State.

I don’t have faith in either coming back from down 14 to OSU in one quarter. It seems like an odd line of questioning. I don’t have faith in most QBs to do that. I have more faith in Leonard than Angeli, as he is a better QB

It may not have been pretty, but he led the team to this point, and he deserves the chance to finish, unless he's injured or gives a clear reason to make a change, i.e, throwing multiple interceptions.

We can agree to disagree. If ND needs to start winging it around in the 4th to get back in it, I like Angeli over RL.

I don't think the question is odd given what just happened vs PSU. Angeli looked more competent throwing a football when RL was out.

If ND is down 2 scores late and the run game is out of the mix (this is RL's strongest attribute), I like Angeli's chances way more than RL in that scenario.

His lack of mobility is why I don’t agree. He got sacked twice in the drive in the Penn State game including a fumble. Think he would struggle in a situation where Ohio State could pin their ears back and come after him.

Exactly

You can’t survive on 5 yard passes and multiple sacks per drive. It just by happenstance was exactly what ND needed on a 2 min drill. The first sack didn’t bite them like it should have and the second sack really didn’t matter since we were in FG range. It would have severely hindered a TD drive though, in this hypothetical
