Because of 'spin doctors' from SI and Yahoo are throwing shit against the wall hoping it will stick so they can be the - I told you so's -

That first article is based on an article based on an article about teams the writer thinks would be a good fit if Ewers doesn't go pro.

All the "smoke" has come from outside the program and message boards. Colin Cowherd is now a reliable source for news?

I am more inclined to believe that Ewers or other qbs tried reaching out to ND than the other way around.

Again, the coaches and ND beat writers have consistently said the plan is to run with the QBs they have.

DD Holmes Freshman Florida state another edge guy to maybe take a look at 6’6 255
Yeah, I also saw a not as highly rated USF Freshman DT enter the portal right behind him. Some options if we don't have two DTs already wrapped as many say we do.

With all this NIL passed around, does anyone wonder what it costs ND to retain its players from going to the portal? I assume most portal jumpers who have been playing are jumping looking for more $$$ than what their current university is willing to give?

Yep. Honestly I'd say keeping our top 5-10 returning players from getting poached is probably more valuable/important to success next year than almost anyone we're likely to land in the portal.

I have faith in MF to keep them all..

I feel that way every year.
Me too ..but in this day and age you get to choose. Pony up for a proven player to keep the machine running. Or gamble on an unproven player and if the machine blows up...now you lose your good players too. Risk vs reward...I'd pay JM, CK or QE without even debating it.

I think we have a lot of advantages in that department. The coaching staff, the culture, the fact that many kids who choose Notre Dame are taking the long view from the start. But I'm sure there are teams out there looking at some of the young studs on our defense - let alone Love - and getting ready to offer them a large bag. I hope we can counter with enough we don't lose someone good, is all.

To me it Feels like the staff is trying to plug leaks to prevent Steve / Minchey from entering before the playoff ends. Of course they’d consider Quinn or Cade if they wanted in.
Make them feel as if some players are coming in??? I mean, Minchey is not going anywhere IMO.... If he would, he would have been gone by now especially after the season last year before RL got here.

I have a hard time seeing a major program offering Kenny a starting role to transfer. Steve would likely get a few because he has actual game film for a team to analyze.

This here.
Steve could probably get a good shot to start at a lower-tier P4, if a starting job is what he’s after.
Kenny, not so much. His best move would be to go somewhere that has an older established starter who’ll be gone after ‘25 and become the next guy. Or just stay and see what happens. Either way he’s probably a QB2 next season.

HE IS BACK BABY

I just can't fathom this... why go with $4-5NIL money - in college when you can sign a multi-year, million dollar contract, guaranteed to be in the NFL, and get a $4-6M signing bonus. AND, risk the injury aspect.

Which is why I don’t buy it it’s all part of the plot. Why would someone say Carr’s family is okay not rushing him. So we are gonna roll with Angeli next year? I’d be okay if Minchey and Carr got way more time this year but both got zero experience. Angeli is good enough for us to go 9-3 but I don’t think we make the playoffs with him at QB
Maybe Carr’s family rumors were BS, too, just like the portal QB rumors.
