What is the "uniform surprise"?

Yikes. If this is true, we are wasting an opportunity to showcase our program in the best way in front of a big national audience. Wear the traditional home uniforms. Enough. Will OSU do this? Tennessee? Texas? Of course not.

Is this a UA thing? Who is to blame? The people who are supposed to be custodians of ND football are consistently irresponsible.

Yes, OSU is wearing alternates vs. Tennessee

Honestly don't know how in 200+ pages of posts, probably 35+ of which are dedicated to discussion on black alternates, someone didn't make the obvious marketing play of SUPER dark blue instead of black.

Most schools have blackouts for big night games. ND can break out the Midnight Blues... we're dressing darker than usual, because it's late and it's time for your funeral.

Have the stadium "blacked" out in Midnight Blue shirts. I think I like this, and it's just enough of a loophole to have plausible deniability when the blue hair dudes with friends in high places start getting grumpy. "It's bad enough that I can't make it to Chicago for a steak after a nighttime kickoff... now we're completely destroying our uniform tradition???"

"Sir, those are Midnight Blues. Still fits within this prescribed University color palette, as you can see here:" [sends link to Google docs form that the geriatric cannot access]

Don’t worry, regardless of the uni they wear, I will 100% be blacked out in the stadium on Friday

I did some very amateur photoshopping to change the black to a dark navy. I still don't like matching jerseys and pants, so I hope they go gold pants, but these could be cool
You'd think that more people would be on board with the all-navy look, considering so many complain about the color of the pants.

In professional photos and in person the pants look good. On TV they look too yellow more often than not

I’m for it. Change is good. After reading responses, I’m guessing a lot of people on this board prefer missionary.
Change is great but black is not one of NDs color. Blue and gold is and they use green because of the whole Irish thing, they really do need to make it a school color though. Black has absolutely nothing to do with ND. I do not know why that would be an option of any kind. Now if they want to create alts with blue, gold, or green go for it but personally I have always thought our standard home jersey’s are the greatest jerseys of any college or pro team period.

And I hate missionary thank you very much. Roll her on her side so I can lay on my side and not have to work so hard or better yet just give me head. 🤣

If they must wear an alt during the playoffs, it should be these in the Sugar Bowl. It essentially the last meaningful postseason game ND won, so maybe they’ll bring some luck again.

This a version someone posted. Not sure who this guys at all. They aren’t Terrible other than we would look like Colorado. And ND should never look like Colorado.

If that’s a dark navy I’m down. I hope they keep the gold pants though. This one color uni concept needs to end. Not that I truly care though.

Based on the temps expected I’m thinking mink neck rolls would be a great accent……

If they are going with a "dark navy" instead of black, I feel like they could have done the dark navy in the ad they put out. The fact that it was a black background has me very nervous.

We’re fucking pathetic. A total sellout that’s also 20 years behind the times with the tired
black jersey thing. What a disgusting disgrace.

Anyone who likes the idea is total douche too. Worried about recruits that likely won’t attend and/or may transfer? Again, please show me me where Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Texas, etc rolled out multiple versions of their alternate uniforms. Roll out your all blacks against the fucking Indiana Hoosiers. Real good.

It's not pathetic I'm tired of the old boring uniforms we are here to win football games and impress the young recruits not impress the wine and cheese crowd.
You’d change the helmets and graffiti the Word of Life Mural too, I bet. Get outta here you moron

I couldn’t care less what they wear to be honest. If the players like and play well, that’s all that matters.

Wearing black when not a primary color was tired like 15 years ago. It's the single most dorky thing a team can do in the year of our Lord, 2024.

Iconic uniforms are Iconic. Kids are perfectly fine with ND's classic uni's...no different than Yankee pinstripes or Alabama/Texas/Penn State's respective looks.

The little change-ups are fun here and there but the Navy/Gold should be the standard and particularly once it's time to get down to business.

Wearing dark colors to a stadium sucks. You know why Nebraska and Georgia looked so good at ND stadium? It's because bright red stands out and the conglomerate of Navy, green, blue, gray, white, etc that ND fans wear don't (absent Kelly green).

If you do a color theme for fans, ALWAYS go with the brightest color you have.
