Idk why the haven't kicked the tires again on JonAnthony Hall given the tire fire Stanford is this year.
Yea Hall, Meadows, Mizell and RVB should be the focus unless a stud stands out from his SR year film.

How do you know that they aren’t in contact with Hall?
This is EXACTLY why I'm not going to project frustration or accusation on the coaching staff yet. We just saw them flip a QB and a center almost entirely under the radar. Come December/February I'll assess the class and determine from there what they could have done better and what is what. I don't buy into all the "insiders" and don't subscribe to their shit, but I'll let it play out and I hope the staff treats these guys like mushrooms: feed them shit and keep them in the dark. Seems like it's bad for business when these goofs know more than they should know about these recruitments.

I don’t. But, we’ve got enough guys with ears pretty close to the ground that I do figure we would’ve heard something if there was any chatter there.

I mean I used to think this but the Hebert flip (and Herron to a lesser extent) makes it clear the staff is keeping certain recruitments close to the vest.

Especting 1-2 legitimate surprises leading up to NSD. RB seems the most likely just bc of the lack of chatter there.

Good. I agree and I think you're right. As it should be. Conduct your business in a way that benefits you and not the jabronies at these paysites.

I value the coaches and the work they do far more than these other guys.

It's a kid making a decision and you think it's the coaches that didn't get it done... sometimes you lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.... not on the coach here
Just curious. How many WRs need to not choose ND before it starts to be Brown's fault?

We didn’t hear a peep about Hebert. I’m sure the ”insiders” know more than we do and can’t always divulge details but I’m sure there is plenty more info on recruiting that is kept close to the vest by the staff.

Since Brown has been on the job for less than a year……I’d say it would be fair to give him two years to show that he is progressing as a recruiter. At this point, Year 1 is underwhelming but it will be fair to give him a grade “after” the 2025 cycle is completed. I also realize that we have had to be patient since 1988 so it isn’t easy.

I mean to be fair before Hebert when is the last time we didn’t even have an inclination something was happening before it happened?

I hope the staff are actively pursuing any committed guys who could potentially be flips whether we know it, or not. But we’ve heard about Cooper, Mizzell, etc. I would be surprised if we were courting Hall again and didn’t know it, especially with him being in-state.

He better kick it in gear because he’s virtually in on NOBODY for ‘26

The media was telling us it was unlikely Antavious Richardson would commit to ND after his visit. Not a secret recruitment but obviously incorrect. Maybe the staff kept that close to the vest also. All I’m saying is that a lot happens behind closed doors that we are never privy to. I’m hoping for some additional good surprises.

One other possibility no one has mentioned is that this is similar to Walker Howard - he wanted to come but ended up not clearing admissions.

Which is still a recruiting miss but not as bad as the staff failing to close.

I hear you, but he also does already have Faison, and Mosley looks like a much more promising prospect both talent wise and for ND than his older brother. That's already half the class potentially secured.

Don’t know if this kid was watching the dink and dunk passing game and thinking that was the future here at ND or how Denbrock likes to work but that’s not how you get a high profile existence that gets you a visit to the combine. How many did we get invited at WR the last couple of years? None? No one is getting invited this year unless things change fast. Beau Collins has a small chance but he will need to way up his game. We have been able to play from ahead which means more ground game. Kid ain’t going pro so sorry he will be missing out on a useful degree.

No, Walker Howard was Steve Angeli's recruiting class. He had a quiet visit, then a public one, and then decided to stay at LSU. Lots of hand wringing about Tommy's QB recruiting at the time. It came out later he did not pass admissions

ISD has been shouting this from the rooftops since the summer. WR recruits don't talk about him and he hasn't gotten many blue-chip 26 WR's to visit campus, which is a horrible look.

Richardson composite #378 did not play WR in high school, electric athlete.
Burress composite #542 may be underrated.
Bettis composite #895 legacy recruit.

This is not CFB playoff recruiting level for 2025. Not much happening for 2026. Yes, there is a problem.

Wild to look back on this being absolutely right at the time and now aging like milk.

True, ND bungled the '25 class, but the blame for that has to rest as much on Stuckey as it does on Brown. And likely it rests on the recruiting staff in general.
