I don't understand why there is bickering after a win against the 15th ranked team. It wasn't pretty but jeesh guys
I think it mostly has something to do with our multi-million dollar coaching staff and QB running a small town high school offense and us just waiting for the other show to drop (NIU being the 1st shoe). Compounded by what appears to be REPEATED undisciplined decision making by the players and we have serious concerns about the direction this "12 team CFP or bust" season is headed. Or maybe it's just me...

You can choose to be pessimistic and I'll choose to be optimistic. Everything still to play for this season. Though, the injuries do suck

Yea no doubt.. I would too.

Would be nice if we could get some top 3 recruiting classes though & really level up.

Bama’s roster is just gigantic.. their DLine makes Hinish, Cross & Mills look busch league.
Yeah that wouldnt be much of a matchup there unfortunately

1: That was really not fun to watch.

2: If we take a few years off from playing Louisville that'll be fine. Brohm made some game management mistakes but that is a tough, well-coached team just like last year.

3: I'd trade our QB for theirs. And that WR transfer from Alabama was the best WR on the field.

4: It's a win. Over probably the highest-ranked team we will play this season. At some level you have to celebrate that. Survive and advance.

5: I get the fear that we're going to drop another but the defense will keep us in every game. So deep with ballplayers at all three levels. I think most games our offense will eventually break through like they did today on the Love screen pass. Until USC anyway, we only beat ourselves.

6: Damn those injuries. The play before Traore got hurt he hunted down their RB from behind and I told my kid he's gonna be a first-round pick. Faison flashed for the first time this season and then went out. Pendleton? Gray? Glad we've got a bye week to regroup where we can.

7: But, again, we are so deep. Watching all those freshmen taking serious reps on defense in a must-win game. The future is bright.

I think that’s exactly what happened with Botelho as well.

I think we need to have an IE gentlemen’s agreement that it’s OKAY to be critical of MF without that meaning you’re rooting against the team.

You can criticize things and people you care about. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.

That said, we gutted it out. 4-1 going into the bye. Still in contention.

Go Irish. ☘️
That’s where I’m at, and where I’ve been at. I went to the game. Had a good time on campus. I’ll vent about the game and coaches m in a more detailed post probably tomorrow, but tonight, I’m going to celebrate the win.

This team is deeply flawed, but the part that will absolutely be insurmountable is they consistently display an inability to put together a drive during closing time.

I have zero faith this team is capable of going on a game winning drive to end a game when needed.

They aren’t flawed, they just aren’t “that good.” They are unprepared and the coaching is questionable to say the least

There’s something weird going on with Price too. I know he fumbled but damn. Sat him the rest of the game. Something feels off
Had the same thought. Then again, Ford fumbled opening kick and I dont recall seeing him, either. Seems odd, considering wet conditions. Williams took most of the 3rd down plays.

Price is too good to not give him another opportunity, IMO, especially with Love getting banged up.

If Louisville scores a TD there with ~2 minutes left and they go for two, do any of you honestly trust RL to lead the offense down the field into field goal range against any defense with a pulse? Because I definitely do not.
Well they didn't. Cuz the defense stopped them. We can run over what ifs over and over again, but it doesn't mean shit. What if ND has all of its starters available? What if Marcus Freeman put in Angeli? If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas.

I think this game was a testament to the depth we’ve built. Need to remember what we were missing:

Starters out going into game:

Jagusah
Schrauth
Craig
Botelho
Gray

All of the above will play in the league in some capacity.

Also:
Leonard banged up for 3/4 of game
Traore (best pass rusher) missed over half the game
Ben Mo (AA) missed half the game - prob banged up when returned
Pendleton and Faison out in 4th quarter
TE 2 in Flanagan out
Mickey Quit on the team

We beat a top 15 team with a ton of back ups / underclassmen on the field and our most important player (Riley) banged up. Of course it wasn’t perfect. The important thing was that we did it in spite of all of these issues.

Still believe this is a top 6-8 team when healthy.
It’s as if we made a mid level bowl and a bunch of guys decided to sit out and we still won!

I still do not think we beat them. this team is sleeping right now. Something is off.
I’m sure you’re right. I will say that Freeman’s teams play up the their competition and down to it as well. Vexing!
