Folks who get hung up on 2 quarters of decent QBing, but not taking any of the rest of the season into account is just a wild way to extrapolate conclusions.

I’ve been quite critical and thought he should have been pulled before the touchdown drive. But I’m being realistic and acknowledge there was improvement.

People were critical of bailing out of the pocket and “not seeing all these wide open wide receivers down the field” after Purdue and that straight up didn’t happen Saturday.

But no matter what he does, it won’t be good enough for some people because their mind is made up. Whereas, I’m still in wait and see mode with this weekend probably being my determining factor.

Also, rushing yards do count specifically forcing the defense to always account for the QB, which opens up your talented running backs more. Just because it doesn’t look the exact way you want it to, doesn’t mean it can’t be *effective.

*this is the offense as a whole, specifically play calling to strengths and actual executions. There’s still way too little PA for a team that runs the ball as much as we do.

Yes, my mind is made up. The fact that Denbrock has to dumb the offense down as much as he did just to get RL to be able to complete a routine pass is not impressive. 1 passing TDs through 4 games is not impressive. Real teams, which we aspire to face in the CFO, will absolutely eat this guy alive. He's a runner. Period. Barring a miraculous evolution by RL sometime before he causes us to tank all CFO hope aside, there literally is nothing he could do to impress me.

Getting to the point where I think every play should be only one of these: Read option... PA bomb... RBs in the flat.

ND can get pass interference on the deep bombs regardless of how bad the ball is.

Some are saying progress for RL, but that's against lesser opponents... What happens when his incipient confidence suddenly gets pummeled say by Louisville? This next game could get ugly

I'm hopeful the improvement carries over.

If we're losing to Louisville, Leonard is struggling to pass, and the crowd is getting antsy again, Freeman is going to have no choice but to play Angeli. If he sticks with Leonard and we lose another game, Freeman's officially on the hot seat

You’re assuming that if ND loses it’ll be b/c of Leonard. I wouldn’t go that far as this defense hasn’t been tested that much by a better than average offense yet. The QB thing is beyond dead horse. The coaches get paid handsomely to win ball games. The coaches have to trot out their best option at QB to win those games. The coaches have seen the QB room get reps more than anyone else in the media or fanbase. The coaches deduced that RL gives them the best option of winning games. It could definitely change but if it does y’all are gonna be sorely disappointed when Angeli isn’t the savior he’s been made out to be. It’s not fair to him or the other backups IMO.

It could be a Wimbush v Book scenario. That was a big upgrade but they had made promises to Wimbush.

The coaching staff already screwed up by playing Leonard in the second half against NIU when he was injured and couldn't run. It was so arrogant of them to think they could win against lowly NIU. If you think injured Leonard gave ND a better chance to beat NIU than Angeli, then you're as dumb as the coaching staff

We're not looking for Angeli to be an All-American, just to be a better passer than Leonard, who's currently at a putrid level

Likely not in the admin's eyes, only ours.
