Not a lot of talk about the game plan and play calling of Shane Waldron. Which is fine. Mom Hugger is going to get all the hype, be it good or bad. If he connects with Keenan Allen on a couple of throws the narrative might be slightly different. He overshot one and Allen dropped another. Football.

The interior OL situation needs resolved quick.

Poles could end up looking good with the Taylor trade and Edwards signing.

Caleb Williams looks like a rookie. There are glimpses, it isn't terrible but it is by no means great. Bears have no running game whatsoever, either, which hurts.

He's got to get rid of the ball faster. Top priority. There really isn't anything they can do about the interior OL now. That is what it is until the winter and spring offseason.

Going to be an interesting year. The pieces are there around him and he's going to have to get better week to week.

Keeping an eye on Justin Fields and he's not exactly setting the world on fire with Pittsburgh. It's an interesting follow as well in conjunction with watching Caleb progress.

The Coddled Man hasn't been great, but has shown that when given time, he can hit the intermediate routes. Unfortunately, every team from here on out is going to blitz heavy and that line is real bad.

Waldron is getting a lot of heat for the lack of offensive identity

Typical Bears offense where you can point at a laundry list of reasons as to why it is what it is

They can't really address roster/personnel now. They have what they have on the OL. It's undoubtedly an issue, though.

Unfortunately, I think Waldron is going to be forced to deviate from his initial play calling even if it's correct which is where the personnel issues come in.

How many plays were there when Swift gets the ball and it's set up to be an easy 6-8 yard gain but he only gets 2 because of subpar execution up front? Watching Nate Davis just run right past an LB filling the hole was infuriating to watch.

I don't disagree.

I am also curious why they were targeting Carter so much. Carter is a kick returner. They have real receivers now. They also gave Cole Kmet new paper and he has five catches for 31 yards. 4/27 of which came last night.

I was so confused by this... I guess he passed up Tyler Scott?

Fucking riley leonard dressed up in a bears uniform today
Bit of an exaggeration, but I understand the frustration. He's a rookie and it's been three games and he's not CJ Stroud. It would appear that many of the same issues still exist now as they did then: O Line, play calling.

My concern is like many rookie QB thrust into action quickly, he could burn out fast. Se Bryce Young.

I don't understand the connection.

They had Cole Kmet blocking Latu with the game on the line. Kmet held, still got destroyed.

Let's keep talking about nail polish, though.

Hopefully the OC learned something in the 4th quarter. I think Swift best aspect is as a receiving option.
Intermediate throws for Odunze and Kmet with Swift as the check down. Then hopefully Moore and Odunze can eventually break one.

Running between the tackles needs to be Johnson going forward.

Especially after a drive where they handled their own in base protection and heavily leaned on Kmet in the passing game.

First play after that drive they use said player in max protect with Mercedes Lewis... It's like Waldron disregarded everything that worked in the previous drive

I know there is a connection/relationship with Caleb and Waldron, but Waldron really seems to be struggling with the things he can control and that's play calling. The OL is what it is, you have a rookie QB regardless of all of that, but you have to be making good decisions calling plays. It's been a mixed bag at best, if not bad so far after three games.

I think Marcedes Lewis was supposed to double with Kmet but just straight up didn't block Latu.

I came away from the game yesterday honestly impressed with Caleb. He looks so very different than any other Bears QB I've ever seen. They really need to keep improving the offense (and it has improved every week, don't get confused). But there are still just jaw droppingly dumb moments like the 4th down speed option? What was that??

Feel like this is very evident but also getting lost in the noise postgame

Caleb flashed and showed some serious promise, as did Rome. Them and Kmet all played pretty well.

Everybody else on the offense sucked. I mean, REALLY sucked. The OL somehow keeps getting worse, not better. They gave up 4 sacks and Caleb was constantly under duress...again. It's insanely bizarre how despite getting more experience and supposedly talent, they are somehow WORSE than last year.

It's obvious to anyone who's not in meltdown mode just how much better the passing game has gotten game over game. The problem is that the improvements overall have been incremental. But I'll add this: Week 1 they scored 0 offensive touchdowns; Week 2 they scored 1; Week 3 they scored 2 offensive touchdowns. With this kinda progression the rest of the league realistically only has 1 maybe 2 more weeks until they are overwhelmed by the offensive production.

The OL has been awful. Not bad...awful. Wright probably has a spot by default, but it shouldn't surprise anyone if a clean sweep occurs in the offseason.

Coleman Shelton has to be the worst offensive lineman in the league currently starting. It's insane how he, seemingly every week, we see him getting absolutely ragdolled on defense.

That 4th and goal from the 1 perfectly encapsulated just how inept this Bears OL is. From the start, everybody lost their battle. I mean, LITERALLY. EVERYBODY. The entire line is either on the ground or in the process of getting knocked back 5 yards.

I don't think I ever recall a situation where ALL FIVE guys up front get physically manhandled like the Bears OL did. I just don't get it. They were bad last year, but they weren't THIS bad! They could at least run block adequately. Now they can't even do that right.

It's frustrating because the Bears have the talent at WR and TE for Caleb to succeed and you can tell he's trying, but between the inept OL and D'Andre Swift seemingly going missing after he was signed, that isn't a recipe for success.
