I'm much more interested in seeing if Thomas, Greathouse, and Mitchell can make some plays. Those guys were awful quiet in Week 1

Splitting hairs, but Greathouse had three receptions, and I believe a couple of first downs. Nothing crazy, but he was our second leading receiver. Thomas and Mitchell combining for two catches each, albeit for first downs, is definitely a slow start.

Greathouse is going to be fine, that's all I'm saying. He's going to be one of Leonard's top targets. I'm still very high on Thomas if he can stay healthy, he's made a ton of plays in his career. I'm assuming/hoping our gameplan was why the WRs weren't more productive. Both defenses were really focusing on eliminating the big plays in the passing game, and both succeeded. That aTm D was no joke.

They're not all delusional.

An upset would be on the level of App State over Michigan. But I'm tempering my expectations to 'no injuries' and '20-25 point loss because ND plays 2nd and 3rd stringers'. If we can score 2 TDs against their #1 D, I would actually be pleasantly surprised.

Seemed to me the ND/TexasA&M game was played by much bigger faster stronger smarter players.

Call me pessimistic, but:
- I don't expect Brown to get more than 50-60 yards, with a low per run average
- Hamp will throw a few picks, he's on film now and ND will know his weaknesses, and I don't expect him to have much time to throw and he'll force some attempts
- misdirections and any trickery will not be successful, teams know Hammock will try
- I would bet the D logs close to 40 minutes on the field, just plain exhausted
- game will start in a kinda boring play calling mode, as we want to avoid turnovers and ND will want to establish line dominance

Again, let's get through this thing healthy and with some good plays to point to, and be stronger for the rest of the season.

I always laugh when I see this. if all the P4 programs had rely on grads to comprise their fanbase, then NCAA FB would be on the level of the WNBA when it comes to popularity. Hell look at all the SEC states who don’t have professional sports & there’s no wonder why they’re so rabid. And there’s plenty of NIU fans from the Chicago area who are ND fans so that just adds to the irony.

So here's a question I genuinely don't know the answer to - how are the extra games handled in terms of eligibility. I know bowl games didn't count in the past, but what about now that a team can play up to 4 more?

That’s my understanding but I heard it on a podcast so I‘m going by memory. They get their four regular season games plus all the postseason games w/o losing their redshirt.

I saw that BowHunter made a classy post after the aTm game and said he'd stick around. Love when we have opposing fans who come here and post with respect, and of course ND fans are (typically) known to repay it in kind. The other guy, TexAggs or something, has been nowhere to be seen lol and he was getting a little frisky as game day got closer last week.

I enjoy our resident outsiders like Bishop, ForkBeard, T Town Tommy, etc.

I don't think we need to shit on NIU just because they have fans that are excited about their team. ND is favored by a lot, for good reason, but they're still gonna strap it up on Saturday and they need to play to the best of their abilities. If they do that, ND should win comfortably.

But if they don't, Marshall and that shit-ass Stanford loss aren't that far in the rear-view mirror.

I mean I tend to agree, but there's a difference between being excited for your team and calling aTm a "below average" football team. Particularly when coached by Mike Elko.

It's okay to be excited. It's also okay to be somewhat realistic.
