However, he should remove CSM from his bio since he didn't make it permanent before getting out

Walz lying about his combat record won't lose that ticket any votes on the left, but will cost them dearly in Middle America and amongst undecided voters. Lying about your military service is a major no-no.

This seems off. I'm supposed to believe there was a large swath of voters who don't care about Trump's draft dodging, "losers and suckers", etc. but would care about Walz ... what exactly? ... and that's the single deciding factor on whether to vote for California's Kamala Harris or not?

I'd be surprised if there are even 100 people in the country who fall into that category.

Again, Trump needs to be hammering issues. Instead he has an empty campaign schedule and JD is floundering. You might think this attack line on Walz is resonating, but really all its doing is drawing attention to 20+ years of military service for a guy that many don't know much about... and that's because the "abandoned his unit" line doesn't hold up to scrutiny whatsoever. And even if it was a great way to attack Walz, the person they need to be scoring points on is Kamala.

Losers and suckers is as true as the couch meme. It’s all just attack bs, but the left media won’t check it or muzzle it.

I’ve included 3 reliable sources but I’m sure you’ll claim ā€œliberal bias.ā€ Especially that leftist rag, The Wall Street Journal.

Don’t waste your breath. There could be audio of him saying it and they wouldn’t believe it.

Not really unexpected since his selection was just announced. Give it a couple more days and the focus will shift back to Harris.

Before you actually get orders to deploy for an operation, you get a WARNORD, which tells your unit to prepare for the upcoming tasking. They received the WARNORD in early 2005 before Walz put in his retirement paperwork and before they actually received the orders to deploy

Kind of like this audio?

Trump again his own worst enemy. I still think that Walz did a fucking awful job with the Minneapolis and his family's giddy excitement over the destruction of businesses and property is frankly disgusting. Just like Trump's previous praise over Fauci and work during COVID, that doesn't mean that it was good or that I support it.

I don’t know what that is and did 3 deployments.

It looks like Walz has at least lied a bunch about this crap. I’m more worried about his extreme policy views, but to each their own.

Maybe depends on what your level in leadership was, but for my first deployment we had a message come in about a year before we deployed and surge deployment we had a WARNORD for it about two months before.

And agreed, his views on the first amendment and immigration are reason enough to vote against him. But I have no qualms calling into question his false claims about his service (more so than the retiring thing) given that he felt the need to bring up the Vance couch slander.

It also takes a long time to separate. I'm active duty and have to start submitting paperwork a year out to leave. Walz started filing to run for office well before retirement (Feb before that if I remember correctly)

If the R's really want to hash this out, people might realize Vance's service was being press corp for the marines. Tough to criticize a veteran of 24 years with that background.

Trump's had one public appearance this week. Are the demands of the trail too much for the old man?

To this date, even with Trump out of office, no one has come forward to claim the "anonymous source" that the Atlantic used for the quote. This was a claim, mind you, from a 2018 visit to Paris and the anonymous sources then "came forward' during an election year. Can't read the WSJ piece, but both the NBC and Media Matters (Both fully Left leaning and ranking as Mixed to Mostly Factual on their reporting) basically just reference John Kelly coming out to backup the claim, yet it's never been confirmed Kelly didn't just hear the alleged comment second hand and his comments are at times vague. Kelly certainly has no love lost with Trump, there's few former members of Trump's circle that had a more contentious relationship with him than Kelly. Contrast that with John Bolton, who also has no love lost for Trump and has said that Trump is unfit for a 2nd term, yet even Bolton said it never happened. 15 different individuals that were on that trip say it never happened in his book after he left office, and in fact Trump spoke in the pouring rain the next day at a similar ceremony. The appearance the day before was scrapped because the helicopter couldn't be used due to weather (A decision that was made by Kelly actually).

So, what do know? An anonymous source for the Atlantic claims they heard Trump say something preposterous. There's no audio/video of said comment. Almost everyone except Kelly that was around Trump at the time has denied it happened, which includes a number of people from his circle that don't care for him and have no reason to defend him with bridges burned. Trump clearly didn't have an issue with wounded or dead soldiers, he made at least 3 visits to Walter Reed in the years before the alleged comment came out (During an election year, surprise). He also committed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

This dude is a little over the top, but the video provides some fact checking and AP articles that don't jive with the story in the Atlantic.

At best, even left leaning Snopes can't confirm the comments were made because the only evidence it exists stems from an anonymous source and vague comments from a jilted former Chief of Staff, Kelly, that Trump made turn in his resignation and he's been dogging him ever since.

So, Trumps former Chief of Staff hates him, about half of his former cabinet and his former VP have gone on the record saying that he is unfit for office?

You’ve got to be a grade A asshole/dickhead to foster that kind of response from your former subordinates.

So you’re telling me that you choose to believe the most documented liar in human history over a highly decorated, four star general?

ā€œA person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ā€˜suckers’ because ā€˜there is nothing in it for them,ā€™ā€ Kelly told CNN anchor Jake Tapper. ā€œA person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ā€˜it doesn’t look good for me.ā€™ā€

Kelly added that Trump showed an ā€œopen contemptā€ for all Gold Star families.

No one said he's not an asshole. Just because you're an asshole doesn't make propaganda true. Lets not pretend that a load of "Trumped" up stories haven't been spun in the past, most often in election years, and then turn out to be phony later. Outwardly Trump has shown more times than not that he cares about the military though, which flies in the face of the "anonymous sources." Again, watch the video, it makes some points and cite actual sources that call into question the crap from the Atlantic. There's e-mails and information that contradict Kelly's statement.

Major General Bill Matz is one of many that has refuted it, why is his word any less reputable? Is Trump a bigger liar than any other politician? If anything I would argue that he may tell the truth more often than some politicians, his big problem is he has no filter and is rarely politically correct, so his statements are often inflammatory. He's more prone to exaggerations than anything, that's usually where the lies stem from.

The military amputees thing has been debunked. As mentioned he's been to Walter Reed multiple times and visited with disabled and amputees. Here's Trump in 2019 before the Atlantic fabrication:

Other than one trip in 2021 he took, I'm not finding a lot about Biden visiting wounded soldiers during his Presidency, although he did recently visit Walter Reed for that undisclosed health issue. When I look for pictures of Biden and soldiers I'm getting this:

I’m not buying any general or high level officials attack on Trump. We saw the high level officials who said the laptop was Russian disinformation to give Biden political cover for an election. It’s an unsupported insult.

That may be true, but the CSM who replaced him and others who were in the unit at the time have been on the record stating that he knew they were going to deploy when he chose to retire. I think that the Walz campaign team could easily come forward and dispute this and it's been a line of attack on him for six + years now. Again, I think the much bigger offense is the lies and dishonesty about deploying into Iraq/Afghanistan, and less about the retiring.

I definitely don't fall into the "swing" category, but think that directly lying about one's military experience is almost disqualifying. That's some Brian Williams level bullshit.

Isn't Trump's campaign manager the guy who ran Swift Boat Veterans for Truth?

You'd think these "reporters" would mention this in stories regarding Walz's military service.

Eric Holder was vetting the VP candidates. Interesting.
