That’s me, 2 kids under 3. I’m going to make time to play hopefully but I won’t be grinding nearly as much as I once could

In college, my girlfriend (now wife) and I would spend more nights per week than I care to admit celebrating what we called “Gossip Girl and Football.”

She would lay in bed watching Gossip Girl on my laptop while I played my NCAA dynasties until 3 or 4am.

This was the go-to hangout activity for the nights we weren’t at the bar or partying at someone’s house.

I asked her if we were going to rekindle that this year, despite now having three kids under the age of 8… that was a hard “no” from both of us after consideration lol

Yeah, i have zero time. Three kids with activities. My career requires 45-50 hrs/week. What little time I have in the morning goes to coffee, reading, working out. Plus I can't create myself in the game.

I'll live vicariously through everyone's reports on here.

The “I’m a parent and games need to be more parent friendly” is an actual movement in gaming these days. I think you’ll see things built in to future games to accommodate. Companion apps on phones already a part of this (FUT in es sports fc)

I’ve got four kids under ten and my son just turned 4. I’m excited to get this game and share it with him even if he can’t really “play” yet. It’ll be something I can do with him a bit, but then also sneak some time away in the evenings after the kids go to sleep and my wife is watching Love Island/Summer House.

My 7 year old is a big Madden guy already.

I challenged him the other day, despite having not played Madden in a year or so. I was feeling confident anyway, so I let him put his settings on "Rookie" and put mine on "All Pro." Thought this would be the start of a nice father/son bonding activity where I could light him up like my dad used to do to me on Madden 2000.

Big mistake. The kid just threw bombs over my DB's repeatedly to Ja'Marr Chase. Didn't matter if I was in Cover 4 or Prevent with cushion before the snap... Rookie settings killed me

(Also taught me that I'm gonna need to invest hours and hours into actual gameplay in the new NCAA game if I want to compete with teenagers online at any point. May be a "Dynasty Only" guy in my old age.)

There are women and children across this country that have no idea what their spouses and fathers used to be before the end of NCAA football. Many are going to see a very different man once this game comes out than they have ever experienced before. Grown ass men are going to be reduced to the temperament of 12 year old boys. This could lead to the down fall of civilization. EA has no idea the monster they are about to unleash on the world. I’m scared gentlemen. 🤣

My kids are gonna hear words they’ve never dreamed of when the cpu hits me with that first NFW game

This is EA Sports, though. That companion app is for nothing other than the ultimate team menu grind.

If you guys want the pomp of college football for a little bit every week, don't pay me much mind. But if you are planning to play often, do not expect EA to help you do anything other than spend money through microtransactions. Non-revenue generating areas of the game will get less and less attention.

I'm disappointed more adult men aren't too busy to play this game.
I mean it’s the first game in the series in 12 years. Let people be excited about, I’m most likely going to be too busy for it now with the kids work and my wife but that doesn’t mean im going to have my nose up in the air about those who can afford to spend time with it

I think EA knows where their bread is buttered with this game. Dynasty just had an 80-page blog while the CUT Twitter account has posted 3 times and there's no info about what will encompass ultimate team in the game.

10 years down the road, yeah ultimate team stuff probably has a greater emphasis as the younger generation gets hooked. Right now though, I don't think many are paying attention to or care about microtransactions.

:D I think you may not be paying attention to EA's history around games with UT. They have been at this for 15 years now, they will figure it out quickly. Go see how much support non-UT games modes get in other games that have it. Dynasty modes aren't unique to college football either. Go read about the disappointment year after year from players.

Every single thing offered outside of the base game is UT related...

But right now, dynasty is overflowing with new features and UT is pretty basic. At least give credit where its due.

Also, I do think college football dynasty is different to other games. We'll see how it goes.

It will take at least three years for EA to neglect dynasty so much that it breaks completely.

Madden has a huge issue with franchise-breaking bugs every time they have a new release, and then it takes them months to address them, if they ever do. My greatest fear is the same happens with dynasty in three or four years when they’ve parlayed NIL into Ultimate Team with enough of a profit margin.

If it happens to the CFB games… this version seems to have a dynasty deep enough to last us another 11 years like the last one did.

Bugs and server issues are by far my biggest worry for the game when it drops.

I won't have the time to grind the game too much, but I'm also not a kid who wants to put in 6 hours a day on a video game. If I can play two full games of ncaa football twice a week, I will be getting my money's worth. I also won't go out and buy College Football 26 most likely. I'm buying a PS5 for this and GTA6. I'm busy with my career and wedding coming up, but I'll find enough time.

I have played less than 10 hours in 20 years. However, my 12-year-old has been put on notice. I think you can play online these days against people, so game on IE league! I'm going to be pissing off those kids playing against me when I run the ball 5 out of 6 plays.

The trees were interesting to me. Seems to be a lot more skills/trees than in past games. I wonder if we'll be able to max a coach out, or if you'll be limited by how many skills you can accumulate?

This is the beauty of making a statement that is open to interpretation.

I could be disappointed that I'm missing out and other men aren't or
I could be disappointed that more men don't have more important things to do.

Or it could be both in varying proportions.

I think they said once you get enough xp you can unlock split trees and be a combo coach. To me it sounded like you can get 2/3.

I'd like to be able to max a coach out after a shit ton of seasons, but it would be interesting if they only allow you to max a handful of trees/combos. Would add a bit to replay-ability, you could start new coaches and try different configurations.
