Sadly, this is what I'm NOT drinking. Was cleaning out the storage room and had no idea she packed stuff around a pile of beer with '21 and '22 dates that I'm gonna have to toss.

48 - Stone IPA mix cases
24 - Hackerr Pschor case
24 - Full Sail mix case (yuck)
24 - Mexican mix case Tecate/Bohemia/XX
18 - Lagunitas mix case but thankfully the 6 Little Sumpin's are missing
18 - Deschutes mix case but she got the 6er of Mirror Pond out of it at some point.
17 - assorted Belching Beaver, Ballast Point and Firestone Walker
8 --- Ale Smith / Pizza Port Colabs (ouch)

181 good beers minus the Full Sail.

Sad day.

But to honor these beers and the lives they never lived, I'm having some Belching Beaver Tropical Terps IPA while watching her pour each beer out in the sink. RIP

If my lady did that she’d be booted out to stay at Irish#1’s place.

She bought all of it but the Ale Smith & Lagunitas so I can't complain. Whenever she sees a variety pack at Costco she buys it. We keep enough beer in the fridges and up front & in the pantry that I had no idea we were sitting on a stash.

She's a little salty right now though.

Sounds like you’re well stocked. Irish#1 I’m sure still isn’t saying no. Lol.

Salty/schmalty. She’ll be fine.

Had Dogfish Head Seaquench last night. It was pretty good but a bit salty.

I've been in the mood for sours lately.

Was at the golf course yesterday and saw a Busch Light Peach in a trash can. Who the fuck drinks Busch Light Peach?

Been diving into tiki drinks this summer and spring. I have fallen in love with real Mai Tais and Daquiris not the sugary juice crap you see so often. Experimenting with different types of rum and curaçao’s and using orgeat has been enlightening.

If you're staying with #1, I hope you like Scotch in plastic bottles. But don't judge him too hard, it's just the demographic. Living through the Great Depression makes you frugal.

YES!

If you are ever in Scottsdale, hit up Hula's and the Drunk Monk. These places make Mai Tai's for men.

Thought those died out 2-3 summers back. Knew some people who enjoyed the Busch apple for a bit.

Any try the Mt. Dew Hards? Had some of the Baja Blast variety. Not bad.

Great Rum? I received a bottle of Zacapa for the holidays years ago from a retired guy for helping him out. Was able to head down to Guatemala last year and picked up a few bottles - good stuff.

If ever in the WMA/WDC/Fairfax, VA, it would be worthwhile to check out High Side. Always a great selection of beers on tap.

Some of my softball buddies were trying to order it at the bar after our game last week and I was puzzled. Thankfully they were out. Everyone seems to be obsessed with the Old Smokey stuff, too. What happened to drinking whiskey neat?

Then again, I'm not big on shots and prefer to sip my whiskeys/bourbons, so I really don't need the added sweetness/flavors to make it "smooth" when abusing the bottle by pouring it in a shot glass. But to each their own!

I went to Gatlinburg not long ago and did one of the tastings at the distillery... holy hangover

I'll go back to sipping my Knob Creek 12

My brother was down in KY recently and got me a bottle of Bardstown's origin series, it's fantastic.

Maybe I just like the labels but I've found myself adding more Redwood Empire products to my collection

Have you had their new screaming titan? I heard its good but running about $85 near me which while it isnt a lot for a bottle of whiskey, I felt like was high for a 90 something proof wheater.

I have not had it yet. I know it's around my area but I haven't seen it at my usual spot.

I've been getting into ryes as of late and I'm really enjoying both the regular and cask strength of Emerald Giant

If you can find them, two must haves are Michters 10 year rye and Old Forester single barrel rye. There are others too, but these are two of the best ryes i have had. Some of the high rye bourbon mashbills out there are excellent too, especially if you get into Willett purple tops.

Both Michter's 10 year bourbon and rye are on my wish list. I can never seem to find them though and when I do they are astronomically expensive (+$400). I go into a Binnys here in Chicago land and asking when they are getting some is a lost cause which is why I've been going to the mom-and-pop shop by me instead. Hopefully they get some inventory.

Very jealous of you non-control board states. For the dollar - IMO - you can't beat Evan Williams single barrel. Wish I had bought a couple of cases when it was plentiful and $30/bottle.

I am a fan of Henry McKenna BIB which is pretty much impossible to grab in state but can be found in some places for $50/$60 still. Johnny Drum is another one I can't ever seem to track down.

Picked up some ETL in Tennessee a couple months back, paid a pretty penny but never thought I would see that on a shelf again. Client out there was loving on the Penelope lines too.

anyone fool around with Mai tai recipes? My go too:

1 ounce of Appleton 12 rum
1 ounce of Smith and Cross rum
1/2 ounce of orange dry curaçao
1/2 ounce of Orgeat
1 ounce of lime juice
1/4 ounce of rich Simple syrup

Try it! It’s fantastic !

Just got some Plantation Xaymaca and Yuzu dry curaçao can’t wait to do a twist.

Mai Tai is on my short list for greatest drinks of all time.

Highly recommend the book Smuggler's Cove if you like tiki cocktails. Great book with some definitive recipes.
