From IB Recruiting Hour

Roberts was hoping that Taylor would shut down the rest of his OVs after ND visit. A lot of mixed vibes coming out. Taylor has reiterated that he wants to find the right fit, and that hasn't changed. His OV went very well, and still likes his fit with ND. Ryan believes that he likes ND but maybe needed to do some more digging into other schools before making his decision. He loved Chris O'Leary and him leaving, over time, made him second guess his decision, which is why Taylor has been taking a few visits around.

Roberts is not optimistic (right now) that Taylor remains in the class.

I'm old. These guys look like they've been sticking their fingers into places and smelling them.

Can't back out now

I don't want to read too much into this, but they don't look as happy as their fathers. Ivan looks like he's in a hostage video. Hope its just the relentless media coverage and nothing more.

I noticed the same thing. Hopefully nothing to worry about. Love seeing the Dads in there as all 3 were studs. Always thought Plaxico was underrated and was a very good wr. Hopefully all 3 kids remain Irish.

Assistant coaches coming and going used to have a much bigger impact in basketball recruiting than football. But this is a new era.

As excellent as Mike Mickens is at developing cornerbacks I can see where a prospect, helped by other schools, would be wary of the pitch that he and the ST coordinator are going to just pick up the baton from Chris O'Leary.

I also find it painfully ironic that for all the scapegoating of O'Leary over misses at S and suggestions that the Irish might be better off without him (you all know the platform) his departure is really impacting ND's chances at a historic recruiting haul at safety.

i think a huge part of O'Leary's rep was that he was lucky enough to be the guy that coached Kyle Hamilton

I don't buy that at all. His rep was built on the fact that the safeties were in the exact right position on virtually every play, even post Kyle Hamilton.

ND’s defense was actually better without Hamilton.
The year with Gilman & Elliott as starters they were better. Then we he got hurt early against USC & missed over half the season, ND’s defense actually got better.
OLeary built his reputation off of coaching up & developing players. He was considered the best position coach, from that perspective, on the staff.

Be honest with him if you are looking we are looking. If it works out great if it doesn’t we both had to look out for our best interest.

Isn’t he a top 50 recruit? That would possibly work on a low 4 star.
