One of my absolute favorite sports weeks of the year. Final Four Championship followed by The Masters.*The most peaceful minute of music begins to play*
"Hello friends"
Ahh, what a time!
I am fascinated by him. The things he does with his swing go against all the rules for golf swings but his control is phenomenal...and I haven't watched any NBA games in about three years...Watching Scottie Scheffler play golf is ten times more entertaining than watching the NBA playoffs.
If you told me ten years ago that is statement I would make I would've told you to check into an insane asylum
Must have been one heck of a divot....So this happened to me today.
After the heartbreak and despair passed, I realized I can now throw this in my wife's face. She's been nagging me for having backup clubs.
Annual trip to Whistling Straits is tomorrow.
High 60's and WIND. Round is sandwiched between thunderstorms.
Better than last year: 40's, rain, and WIND.

I know everyone is dying to find out how my day went so...
Complete 180 weather wise. It was in the mid 70's, sunny, but still WIND!
25-30 mph with 40 mph+ gusts. Just brutal. Standing over the ball with your shirt flapping up your back made it very difficult to concentrate, especially on the elevated tees. The course is already a visually intimidating mind fuck, but this was another level. I putt with a line, but the ball wouldn't sit still on the green so I had to adjust on the fly.
My plan was to be as conservative as possible. Club up, swing smooth and easy to keep the spin down and hopefully penetrate the wind. Bogies were the goal with the hope of sneaking a few pars. The plan almost worked to perfection. My ball striking was great and my putting was better than expected with the forced changes in my routine. I sank multiple putts in the 5-10 foot range to save par.
One disaster hole: my drive was stuck on the side of a mound. The ball was chest high. I tried to just punch/baseball swing it out, but I shanked it into a bunker and my third shot was played from my knees. I ended up with a 200 yard shot into wind. Instead of playing it safe, I pulled out my 230 yard club (5 wood) and tried the hero shot. It missed right and rolled down a 25 foot hill into a collection area. I blame my caddie for not talking me out of it, lol. More bad things happened after that and it led to a double par 8.
7 pars
7 bogies
3 doubles
1 blow up hole
+17/89 but I played so much better than the score.

Awesome. Our fire truck manufacturer is in Appleton and will be back out in the fall. Will certainly check out the others you named. Playing Erin Hills on our way to the airport on our last day. I am looking forward to the trip. Then going to Ireland in August.I live on the IL/WI line so it's just a 2 hour drive for me. I'd definitely stay in Sheboygan though especially if you're spending multiple days there. The Bull is pretty cool too if you have the time. Wisconsin is a golf paradise. You could spend a month here and not play all the courses.
Lawsonia, Washington County (double dip with Erin Hills), and Sentry World are a few of the lesser knowns. All worth your time.
I haven't been to Sand Valley yet, but I do have 40 acres of recreational/hunting land in Adams county if you want a break on hotel fees.
lol
BTW, The Irish is great value! Very difficult in its own right, you can ride so it's nice to play it after the Straits, and half the holes are sheltered from the wind. It's like $120 with a cart, free range balls, water, brats, and they typically have free bag tags at the first tee. After all the free stuff it's like a $60 round.
I'll be there tomorrow for the opening round. Hope to see all the big names tee it up on the back 9 in the morning and then head to front nine for the big afternoon tee times.I’ll be in attendance on championship Sunday. I hope tiger can make the cut. I went with Brooks on my pick.
Sand Valley is a great experience! I played both courses a couple years ago. First tip is to wear sunscreen. There’s very little shade, and the back of my legs got pretty burned, which was unexpected. Greens fees and caddies are pretty expensive, but once you’re on the grounds, food, drink, etc. are very reasonably priced, which makes the experience a bit more enjoyable. The walks at SV aren’t nearly as arduous as Erin Hills or Straits, so you could probably get by without a caddie if you wanted, though they are certainly helpful for course knowledge.I will be there in July. Any advice for the stay?

This is WILD. Apparently a fan was fatally struck by a bus near the entrance. Scottie was coming in, thought the police vehicles and police were extra security, tried to go around everything, and a cop JUMPED on his car to make him stop. They then tried to drag him out of the car, and immediately arrested him placing him in a cruiser.Scottie Scheffler detained by police this AM after apparent traffic mix up in a chaotic scene. Wild.
Looks to be back in his light blue he was wearing while arrested. Charged with felony assault of an officer....Evidently has been freed and arrived at the course shortly after 9, about an hour ahead of his tee time.
Curious if he will be wearing an orange shirt today.
This will be fascinating to play out. So many different angles. It's clear it was a huge miscommunication, but I am sure it will be political.Looks to be back in his light blue he was wearing while arrested. Charged with felony assault of an officer....
