JaDon will also be taking unofficial visits before his OVs including getting back up to ND for a practice sometime, though he doesn't know exactly when. Says ND is recruiting him "like no one else". Constant contact with the staff. All good things.

This comment is extremely funny. Of any of the issues at ND during the past few years, safety play is not one of them. If on field performance is borderline championship level, who cares…and please dont bring up DJ Brown not intercepting a pass against OSU as some way of validating that safety play was an issue and stemming it back to recruiting.

I'm going to post some things about JaDon Blair. Thoughts and prayers to that, and here goes:

WANT.

I like the idea that he plays both ways in high school despite what looks to be a future in college ball in beyond at safety. He seems to have good speed, but not track speed, which is surely going to disappoint the track and field fans. I like that he seeks out contact and isn't afraid to hit. Looks like a good on field leader. Appears to be able to pass cover anyone and with his willingness to crash the LOS and hit people, combined with his length this is someone that is being pursued by big programs for a reason.

Bonafide four star prospect that appears to be all that we look for as a fanbase and all that the program would be after.

I think there's a big difference between coaching and recruiting. In 2022 he whiffed at Safety, in 2023 they were 1-2 players short at the position, and in 2024 he took a project, a player who might be better suited at OLB, and a good athlete who hasn't played much Safety. His recruiting from the 2022-2024 classes wasn't anything to brag about. His coaching, on the other hand, was excellent.

Where did I comment on his coaching? His Top 3 safeties last year were moved to safety because of his recruiting misses, and the best safety he coached at Notre Dame was recruited by Terry Joseph and Clark Lea.

I was more saying if the on field results are what you need for a championship caliber defense, does anyone really give a shit how many stars are next to the name of the kids he recruits on some random football website. If the results are not there, then I think it needs to be determined if its a coaching issue, recruiting issue, or both. That was not an issue with him, so does it really matter where the players came from? The goal is to win football games, and ultimately championships, and his secondary moved the ball forward in that regard.

I didn't call him a bad coach, though. He's clearly a very coach. But he *did* need to swipe players from other positions because he was a liability as a recruiter (ND could have used Watts at WR!) So it's funny that when he became a good recruiter, he left Notre Dame and (potentially) hurt safety recruiting.

You'd ideally like to not rob Peter to pay Paul on your roster because a position coach keeps dropping the ball in recruiting. That's all.

Extended visit starts tomorrow until the 6th. It's a big one to get back in the driver's seat.

Elite potential because of his size, but I don't totally see it in the film yet. Still hoping ND can close here.

JaDon Blair was disappointed that O'Leary left. It's pretty simple.

He likes ND a lot, but truly had one of the best relationships with O'Leary - across coaches at every program recruiting him. ND has ground to make up because of O'Leary's departure.

Him visiting now is a positive but no means a guarantee that ND can get back into the drivers seat. This visit is imperative for his recruitment considering how many OVs Blair will be taking.

His visit has been extended. He and his family will be in town until Saturday. Originally, was only supposed to be a one day visit, but the family got into South Bend later in the night yesterday.

More time with the coaches, more time on campus, more time taking in the practices.

Not sure you could ask for a better response to a multi day visit.

With Golden, Zachary and him finishing off the DB class I’d feel pretty damn good about the future secondary. Still have Johnson, Moore and Hobbs rolling in this summer. Lots of athleticism!
