So we don’t GAS this guy is leaving right? Didn’t need his dad chirping and probably would have got worse this year.

Apparently we gave Ethan Long a raise and Blair a pay cut. Blair is also first string on Missouri depth chart. All according to Driskall and his sources (I think we know who those who)
Woulda been nice to keep Blair but he wasn’t gonna play much this year. Tae Johnson is 10X better and O’Brien is better right now. He’s also second string on their depth chart .

The Missouri 247 site, while clearly not final as it was spring practice, did not have him as a starter at the end of spring ball.

Blair might wind up being a really good player, but ND flat out would not have given Long money over him if they didn't feel like he's the better player... Now, they could prove to be wrong and Blair might wind up being the better of the two players, but that's ND's mistake in evaluation to make.

Driskell's source, I assume, is Blair's dad. The elder Blair is highly vocal, involved and talks with the media a ton.

The thing about Driskell is that when he likes a player a lot and that guy doesn't work out at ND, he's absolutely hellbent on justifying his evaluation of that player by claiming that ND is in the wrong. Even if that player ultimately amounts to very little elsewhere, he'll "ride or die" with that guy until everyone simply forgets about him. Driskell gets most of his information about the program from the parents of players, so he'll pump that player's tires in perpetuity to ensure that he can keep getting information from the parent.

Bingo. My post was not in defense of Blair. Your point about Driskall is spot on. Also loves his sources, which are parents

It's evident Long is currently the better player, as those who saw practice saw Long consistently making plays and being in the right spot.

Then he got some run in an actual game vs Syracuse and balled out. Doubters can point to comp in that game, but it sure didn't look flukey.

The modern era of play me now or I'm moving on isn't going to help someone like Blair. There are prospects that simply need more time than others but it doesn't mean he's a better long term player it just means one is ready to help sooner.

If Blair continues to jump ship for PT, he's never going to develop no matter his natural talent.

Blair had Kyle Hamilton's size and athleticism but was faster but not with the football IQ or natural instincts and because of that as well as how loaded the defensive backfield is the PT wasn't going to there in 2026.

Maybe it was best that he moved on with the talent that ND currently has but he needs to stay put now and learn because the physical tools are there to be a stud.

Whereas Long is currently the better player who's smaller, slower and not as athletic but the football IQ and instincts are there.
