There’s no way they keep Long or Thomas if Blair commits, right?

Two things to this:
1) The staff loves Thomas. Fans look at rankings, but the staff looks at him differently.

2) ND’s Defense is going to have 5 DBs on the field mostly moving forward. So they need to recruit that way.

Combining the two points, different players have different strengths. ND will need certain skills & strengths, such as which part of the field each player can thrive. Thomas, for example, fits that scheme. So Golden can play inside & Zackery the opposite outside position.

And why does everyone think Thomas is playing Safety?
ND sees him as a CB.

Why wouldn't they? They lose Watts and Heard after this year plus Ford who switch from RB-S, and you can't always bank on everyone sticking around. They were already light at Safety. Plus Urlacher most likely grows into a LB at some point. Bringing in 4 Safeties in perfectly fine. Also a guy like Golden can play WR.

Just seems like a lot of bodies. I’m certainly not against them taking everyone, but recent history suggests that someone could get pushed out.

Regardless, this is one hell of a DB class both in numbers and star power.

We used to BEG for 1 top 200 secondary player per class. What Mickens, Golden and Freeman are doing in the secondary is beyond even the wildest expectations.

I think it’s going to be hard to make him a first time DC after Golden. Or make it Co-DC while Golden is still here. But, since we have two of the highest paid coordinators now. We might as well go for the highest paid secondary coach in the country and hope that works out.

Wiltfong has a pick in for ND. There is a reason he has his pick in for ND.
The On3 Michigan site is the largest & most active site on On3. Ever since Wiltfong came to On3, he is constantly on their site. Daily he is putting in updates & talking up Michigan, even when he knows it’s not accurate.
He posted last night that things are at least getting interesting with Blair. No they are not.
But by saying that, he generated a huge response on their board. And now they actually think it is 50-50 with ND.
But all he said is it’s getting interesting & he still has his pick on ND.
Michigan was running a “distant third” going into the visits. And yes, I quoted that for a reason.
So all the BS talk about Michigan running close second from EJ was nonsense.
And the 50-50 talk is nonsense.
