"Ray Charles stood motionless."

LOL. I'm sorry, but I found way funnier than it probably is.

Gun to my head, I could not name a single Toby Keith song. (Checked Spotify and I'd still be dead).

Cancer is the worst.

Nothing to be sorry about. I wasn’t a big fan of his music but seemed like a down-to-earth guy. Huge football fan (Dallas Cowboys & OU). But when I saw the recent Clint Eastwood movie (The Mule?) I heard a song at the end of the flick called “Don’t Let the Old Man In” and thought it was pretty poignant. I highly doubt he wrote the tune but it really appealed to an old guy like me.

Mr. John Chuma passed away yesterday. He was a local baseball coaching legend. He helped so many young men (and women) with the game. He coached Little League, Teener League, Legion, high school, softball, ran the halftime club for high school football, was an Elk.... Just an all time great community man. He was always game to talk sports, especially baseball. You could have an hour conversation with him and it felt like 10 minutes. I was so very fortunate to know him, and learn from him. Many in our area feel the same way.

RIP Mr. Chuma

Don’t know anyone from there and I am not but these are the ones that can really change a community. Hopefully others step up to take over his rolls.

A lot of guys who cashed those checks have love and respect for Toby Keith. He did 11 USO tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, and he showed up at some remote FOBs that no other entertainers went to and spent real time with the troops there. He never put on the uniform, but his active support for those who did was solid. This is a good story about another small kindness that showed his genuine support for US troops and their families. Pretty sure it’s bullshit considering Keith was a lifelong Democrat.

Cool. That's kind of different and unique. There are a lot of great democrats as well as republicans.

I liked Toby. He was a scrappy overachiever who was told he wasnt good looking enough, fit enough or had a good enough voice. Ill miss that democrat. The leftists are the ones who lose me.

It's partly true. He was a registered Democrat till 2008, then went Independent. Apparently he never saw himself as a true conservative, but he also allowed conservatives to use his music. He leaned more toward Libertarian apparently like Willie and Merle. A bit surprising, I would have guessed he was solid right wing the way some publications painted him.

I don't care for country music at all really, so I can't really name any of Keith's songs either...except this one. I think it transcends country music though

[EDIT] Wow, every version of this song appears to have been pulled from Youtube in the last few days.

Lefty Drisell legendary coach at Maryland passed at 92. He had some talented teams. Won 100 games at four different schools. Only one other coach did that. At the time of his retirement in 2003, he was the fourth-winningest NCAA Division I coach.

Lefty beat us in the first round of the '85 tourney. Harp and Bias went at it but it was Adrian Branch who killed us in OT and we lost by 1.

In an odd development, every version of this song (And even reaction videos) have been pulled from Youtube in the last 24 hours or so. Weird...other Toby stuff is up.

Looks like this happened a few days ago but just saw this article now. I remember seeing him being interviewed on a show on History Channel years ago talking about some of his experiences in Vietnam. It was crazy. RIP Chuck.

Tony Ganios, the actor who played Meat in the Porky's movies, died earlier this week of heart failure at the age of 64.

Don't know how well it holds up over time, but Porky's was hilarious when it came out. Porky's II didn't come close. Ganios was in Die Hard IIRC.

RIP to one of the Four Horsemen…Ole Anderson

I just saw something the other day that Arn and Flair don't speak anymore. They used to be tight. Flair used to be tight with HHH too, but I guess they had a falling out too when Becky Lynch started using "The Man" gimmick. Flair kind of went off the deep end there for a bit during and after his heart troubles, cut ties with a lot in the business that used to be friends.

This week has been horrible for our community. This man brought out confidence and inspiration in my daughter that my wife and I never could. He would always tell her, "Stop it, Lila, you're awesome." With his guidance and mentoring, she earned one of the lead roles in this year's musical in April. Despite Mr. Bishop's passing, the show will go on.

He was the heart of that school. Kids are signing a petition to have the school renamed after him. The remainder of the school year is going to be difficult and our entire township is in mourning right now.
