The conflicting reports is par for the course. Maybe it's me, but since Lou passed, I feel that ND has some of the worst beat guys covering the team. Conflicting, incorrect, and inaccurate information is the norm. They also cower and are afraid to ask tough questions. I understand that the admin does its best to inhibit this, but you're a reporter - do your job.

Having gotten that off my chest, I feel better that Riley is throwing around medicine balls and working out at that level of intensity. Given his overall inexperience at QB, I hope he would get as much reps and practice time as possible. I don't doubt that he could probably go out and play at high level tomorrow, but you'd hope that he'd had sufficient time to build a good rapport with his receivers, line, and backs.

I am genuinely confused by this workout post.

Didn't II just say that Riley was seen in a walking boot, had a "procedure" (wouldn't call it a surgery as they basically down played it), but then O'Malley said his ortho source said it's a 6 week "non weight bearing" procedure? So if he's "non-weight bearing" and seen around in a boot....but yet here he is clearly working out....what's going on? I second Hautian Domer's discontent.

The other part of that conversation though was when the procedure happened. They didn't give a clear date on that but did say it didn't just happen. He may already be several weeks into recovery.

When things are this confusing I usually assume the beat doesn't have great read on situation, thus the questions spiral. Off season will off season.

This, my assumption is this happened right after duke season, some old photo surfaced of him in a boot, and shocking but media didn't do any work to date check it or source check it.

Brice said it was a couple of weeks ago.

Good question.

Per the II pod yesterday, his alleged procedure was a couple weeks ago. I’m not sure if winter workouts had started that long ago already.

Correct.

This basically contradicts what O'Malley was talking about. Perhaps it further downplays the extent of "the procedure," but TO literally said walking boot and non weight bearing for 6 weeks (sometimes less for athletes). Timeline checks out for two weeks ago and cleared in two weeks --> 4 weeks post op. However, the non weight bearing part is clearly wrong.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to make a big deal out of this. I was just genuinely confused by the Horka's tweet, II's podcast, and now these workout photos. Something clearly wasn't adding up. --> insert Rob Hunt emoji

Not really. O'Malley didn't claim to know specifically what RL's recovery time was supposed to be or what doctors specifically told him about limitations and "non-weight bearing" training. He didn't know so he talked to different orthopedic surgeons and said that they have differing opinions on recovery but he said "Most would say 6 weeks, no weight bearing." That's just a general comment to give listeners an idea of what RL's recovery might entail but, ultimately, he didn't know what RL was told and he didn't imply that he did know.

what doctors would tell some fat diabetic who rarely moves to do after a procedure and what a d1 collegiate athlete should do after a procedure are likely highly different. Let's go with Riley's words on this one.

I am still not hyped up about Leonard as much as I was for Hartman.

The coverage for ND is horrible- I thought Eric Hansen provided insightful coverage.

Based off the interview from yesterday Leonard plans to be ready.

I expect to see a Leonard vs Angeli at the B&G game.

I think we were all blinded by Hartman's statistics on paper. If you actually look at just his WF highlights, you'll notice the average arm strength right away. He was already a finished product who really benefited from knowing the system and having good WRs. Unfortunately those factors were against him in his single ND season

Leonard's arm strength jumps out right away plus he's a true dual threat. He needs to put it all together this season, but he has first round potential, something we haven't had since 2016 (please God don't let that kind of season happen ever again)

Like Hartman, Leonard seems like a great kid to add to the program

A few reasons why Leonard will have a great year.
1. We have Denbrock
2. Much much more speed at WR and tons of weapons to chose from
3. Leonard’s running ability is gonna have huge dividends for this offense

No clue what it meant. Went to Urban Dictionary. Holy Hell. But also where does one casually wrangle up one of these fabled Hautian Hoochies circa 2007
