I think it would extend more to evaluating your current roster as well though. We thought this 4 star defensive end would be ready in 2 years to hit the 2 deep but he hasn't, so is it time to process him? Keep developing him? Recruit another 4 star? Transfer portal? Grad Transfer? Steal sideline signals?
Good analysis and

F@ck Michigan!

Hoping the Michigan insiders are wrong again here, they have notoriously been incorrect in the recent months

This.

From what I’ve seen it seems MF, Singer, and Sinclair are very optimistic. Loy and Tyler James not commenting either way

Wouldn't say any of them are "optimistic", just that they'd be shocked if Bowden left. Can't say I blame them, given their intel and just the nonsense that would be leaving for a lateral position.

It's not like Rees or Kelly, where there was tangible advantages to the place they were going to. LSU was willing to pay Kelly a ridiculous amount of money and commit to him for a full decade. ND likely wasn't and I can't say I blame them, considering after over a decade, we sort of already knew what the ceiling was for Kelly at ND. Rees had the opportunity coach under Nick Saban. That's a difficult opportunity to pass up, learning from arguably the greatest coach in the history of the sport.

With Bowden, if ND gives him what he wants, which I'd be shocked if he didn't, then there's no tangible advantage that Michigan can provide.

“The momentum is with Michigan”

+ Pending NCAA hammer to be dropped
+ Harbs dips
+ Strength guy dips
+ Minter dips

#Momentum
Not to mention they are losing basically their entire offense and a lot of key players from their defense, and they haven't recruited super well lately.

Sorry, but if I am a recruiting coordinator, this is actually a positive in my eyes. What a great opportunity to show your value.

It would be if you were at a lower program, but he's at ND.

He's already showed his value by vastly improving the ND recruiting operation post-Kelly.

That doesn't effect him as a recruiting coordinator
It affects him if Moore can hit the ground running. Their schedule is tough and their on-field success directly impacts his ability to sell a program. That plus the cheating investigation means he's going to have to overcome more hurdles than he would here, because he's already set up the network to his design.

Unless there's a personal connection between him and Moore, I'm not worried.

The only connection to Michigan is a year working with Mike Elston, who I can't imagine would be trying to convince Bowden to come, given he himself is the current recruiting coordinator.

Meanwhile, Bowden's entire time in college football has been working as a student intern, QC, and then recruiting coordinator at Cincy. Then coming over to ND. So not only a long working relationship with Freeman, but also GG, Brown, Denbrock, and Mickens. Heck he was even roommates with Jac Collinsworth.

His connections to ND are about as strong as you can get

Yep, that all sounds about right. Consider me not concerned then!

Tim Hyde just told Mike Singer on a live podcast a few minutes ago that he read this evening where a scUM writer is reporting that the new head coach offered him a GM title to come.

What’s stopping Freeman from doing the same thing?

Yeah. That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Seems he's gonna get a huge raise however this works out, might as well get a shiny new title and some more responsibility too.

I wonder if having a "General Manager" rubs some of the ND bigwigs the wrong way though?
