Singer and Driskell are reported on their private boards that Michigan has made an substantial offer to poach Chad Bowden from ND.

ND has expressed to Bowden their desires for him to remain at ND. Freeman is on the road recruiting right now, but Michigan is attempting to make this happen quickly.

Much recently than in the past, ND has shown that they will pay for the best. See Denbrocks contract, Golden's soon to be announced extension... I don't see them not putting up the money for someone that Freeman has identified as one of the most important staff members within the football department.

Let's see what happens.

Been discussed in the General Team Info thread but agree that Bowden is worthy of his own thread. Probably the most important staff member outside of the coordinators.

If ND is throwing money around like they are at Denbrock and Golden, they better not go skimpy on Bowden. Give Bowden a raise and some more support staff. My guy is looking way older than his late 20s because of the stress of the job.

Chaotic Notre Dame off seasons under Marcus Freeman.

I can't imagine why Bowden would leave ND for Michigan.

Michigan is a ticking time bomb right now, with a first year head coach and impending NCAA punishments. Bowden also has a long relationship with Freeman from his Cincy days. He doesn't have that at Michigan. If he were to leave, it'd have to be for a promotion.

It'd be for a massive raise, promotion, and larger support staff, reportedly.

He would be a fool to leave unless there is 1) more money or 2) an on field coaching role attached.

If its to replace Jay Harbaugh then congratulations Chad, enjoy your year apprenticeship. We look forward to announcing your appointment as a member of Mike Mickens' inaugural defensive staff at South Bend in 2025.

If its for the recruiting staff:

Yeah, considering it sounds like Michigan is going after him for the same role he has now, I don't imagine him leaving. I'm sure he entertains it, because it will net him a raise and more support. This isn't a situation where ND isn't willing to match, because we know they will.

If he is seriously entertaining the position instead of using it as a pay raise then let him go. Can't be fully bought into ND if you think about going to Michigan.

There’s no indication he has any desire to become an on field coach is there?

Maybe he's just done with having to dress like a leprechaun while dancing on a street corner...?

Losing Bowden would be a massive loss as director of recruiting. He's young, experienced in his role, and successful. He's also one of a kind with a big personality that kids love. Really hope this doesn't have legs.
