Mojitos
In addition to what others have mentioned, Kelsey Creek single barrel is a really smooth bourbon. It drinks like something twice its price. I’d drink it any day over any of the Four Roses or Woodford (minus the double oaked or masters collection).I'm not a big drinker, but I've been in the mood for some bourbon lately. I'm not a bourbon expert... only really know Wild Turkey 101 and Maker's Mark. Any recommendations for something really good in that price range?
Pure alcohol. The best kind of drink. haIn addition to what others have mentioned, Kelsey Creek single barrel is a really smooth bourbon. It drinks like something twice its price. I’d drink it any day over any of the Four Roses or Woodford (minus the double oaked or masters collection).
Wheel Horse is another one that drinks way nicer than the price.
Russell’s 10 yr is good but the pricr has increased drastically near me and the single barrel that was $49 12 months ago is now selling for $79. At that price there are better options so I’ve moved on from it.
If you like something a little sweeter, my nieghbor owns a huge bar here in Dallas and shared their secret signature drink recipe with me. They call it a speakeasy. Two of them and you’ll be feeling good.
1 shot russells
1 shot wild turkey, knob creek or similar
3/4 shot Benedictine
Dash of peychauds
Dash of cherry bitters
Garnish with amarena cherry and orange zest
Serve over an ice sphere or big rock
Just curious what did you pay for the ER? Its notmally about. $40 bottle, but you csnt find it anywhere here in DFW and when you can places are trying to sell it as a $100 bottle which is stupid.I appreciate all of the suggestions for a good affordable bourbon. I bought three today, Elijah Craig Small Batch, Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select, and something I wasn't expecting to buy: a bottle of Eagle Rare from Buffalo Trace. I had picked out a bottle of Larceny, but the store owner, who I'd consulted for help, said the Eagle Rare was much better and more expensive as an allocated bottle, but would sell it to me for a nice price, so I took her recommendation and bought it instead of the Larceny.
I thought the Elijah Craig was good, but not great. I liked the Woodford Reserve much better. The Eagle Rare is outstanding... just about exactly what I'm looking for in a bourbon. Really good stuff!

That store owner did you a solid. I’d keep that place in mind for future purchases especially with the current landscape of the whiskey/bourbon marketI appreciate all of the suggestions for a good affordable bourbon. Never had the DDO. how was it?Woodfords Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon. Good Lawd.
Unbelievably smooth. Buddy gave me a 375 ml bottle for birthday (at a party). Late night my GF starts offering to remaining guests. Next morning there’s little left and I hadn’t had any. I have a the remaining over next days then look it up. My buddy got it while on a tour of distillery. For the 375 ml bottle you can find it on sale on line for $220. Worth every $.Never had the DDO. how was it?

Man, that's moving backwards for my drinkin evenings. I usually start with the heavier stuff, like a bourbon, an IPA (like Hopslam or 51k by Blackrocks) or both, then switch to the finest of pilsners to coast my buzz for the evening. To each their own, I just know if I start with Lites then go to the bourbon, it's a slippery slope lol.Started with a miller light, moved to a couple ipas, had an OKI bourbon, and now on my second heaven hill bottle in bond.
That's great stuff. Cheers.Woodfords Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon. Good Lawd.

I haven’t been able to get that in over four years. Enjoy.I cracked open a EH Taylor small batch last night.
