The Aggies are so dumb. They want their defensive line coach to get the full time gig. They can’t get out of their own way despite having everything in place between unlimited money for coaches and NIL as well as the top facilities
Can you IMAGINE paying $75 million to fire a guy because he and his staff didn’t get it done so you can promote from within?

I mean they're pretty clearly missing competent leadership.

These schools need to get under control. Especially the state funded ones. These buy outs are getting ridiculous. They are playing
With Monopoly money.

Told you MSU would be a waste of time for Elko, he has way too much current clout to consider them. Great hire and great for Elko.

I guess Elko knows what he’s getting into, since he used to work there, but it feels like a massive mistake for him to take the A&M job. Expectations and reality are vastly out of whack at that place.

From the eighth best team in the B1G to the eighth (or worse) best team in the SEC.

Texas A&M is perpetually 7-5/8-4. One of the most overrated jobs in college football.

I like Elko and wish him well - except opening day next weekend - but this is not a great job. He will make some $$$$ though.

Elko is likely the best possible hire. Maybe they hold out for Bill Belich

i differ. The program’s resources make it worthy of consideration as a program that could become elite. Based on upside potential, it is elite.

But getting a solid HC like Elko is the right move. Match the sizzle with real steak.

A&M fans being angrier about Elko than Stoops is wild. Where did this ego come from for a program with 1 ten win season since the 90s
I think Elko is great and will succeed, but it's CRAZY that they rioted over Stoops who has good SEC track record. People are delusional about how "attractive" the Texas A&M job is. There is no doubt that Elko has proven less as a HC than Stoops... all he has is two 7-5 seasons at Duke.

With that all being said -- expect ND to get their lunch money taken by Elko with those Texas A&M horses on defense next year. Scary to think about, he is as good of a defensive coach as there is in CFB.

My buddy is saying that IU negotiated Allen’s buy out down to $15 mil and Allen asked the remaining $5 mil be paid out amongst the assistants.

And apparently they didn’t even tell the players…now they have like 10 that have already hit the portal including their QB. What a cluster.

Quit signing these coaches to stupid contracts and save the school money. It’s Indiana football for crying out loud.

Martin to IU would be such an IU hire. Wilson was their first out of the box hire since forever.

Wilson wasn't that far outside of the box. He coached at Miami for most of the 90's before following Randy Walker to NW.

Before that Terry Hoeppner, Bill Mallory & John Pont all started at Miami and did a stint in Bloomington.

This was Saban’s 2000 LSU deal:

“Nick Saban left bowl-bound Michigan State on Tuesday for Louisiana State, a job that will nearly double his salary and make him one of the country’s top-paid coaches.

He signed a five-year contract for about $1.2 million annually, joining a select group of millionaire coaches that includes Bobby Bowden of Florida State, Steve Spurrier of Florida and Phillip Fulmer of Tennessee.”

Look how far we’ve gone in 23 years…

**Breaking News**

Mike Elko has given Duke the option of retaining him for $12M per over 6 years.

*update*

He has informed A&M Duke plans to match $12M and they must pay $12.5M & buy him a new Swagcopter, not simply have Sumlin's repainted.

Further updates expected
