Ayomanor accounts for 25% of Stanford's yards thru 11 games. Not 25% of passing yards, 25% of total yards

Freeman took over a top 5 program at the time.
BK built every team he coached, starting at D3, then D2, then MAC, then P5, then ND.
BK could develop & coach.
Freeman is a recruiter & motivational speaker, that screws up gameday.
See Franklin at PSU. That’s Freeman’s future.
I think there’s a huge gap in football intelligence and coaching between freeman and Kelly, but I hope freeman can make up for it with a lack of ego (we’ll see with Parker and if golden leaves) plus cutting edge modern recruiting.

BK left a lot to be desired with recruiting efforts. Freeman has left some to be desired from the sidelines. Coaches aren’t perfect.

The good news is MF is trying to be a better coach. I doubt Kelly will ever get better at recruiting.

Statement doesn’t line up… you saying Kelly isn’t “trying” to be a better recruiter? dude is making himself look like an idiot dancing with recruits…no sign right now freeman WILL be a better coach
Sure hope so

It was highly likely, basically a guarantee, that there would be bumps in the road in the early parts of Freeman’s early career. He’ll be a much better coach in years 4 and 5 than he was in years 1 and 2.

He has a chance to win 19 games in his first two seasons. But some might not think that’s too impressive, since he inherited a “stacked” team that didn’t have fuck for QBs and receivers when he was promoted.

I want ND to win as much as everybody.

I just have had reservations about Freeman’s gameday decisions since the Okie St Bowl Game.
Lucci has the same concerns as me.

And it’s not experience level decisions.
It’s bad decisions a HS JV coach doesn’t make. I think Freeman gets lost during the game.

I am disagreeing with you. But most are afraid to say it the way you did lol.

Let's be objective- if ND played in the SEC, Kelly wouldn't have gotten even close to making the BCS championship/CFP. ND got thoroughly exposed in all of those big games because there was a big gap between them and the elite. Fortunately for us, those elite teams weren't on our regular season schedules

But I do agree Kelly is a good coach. Definitely accomplished, but Freeman could eventually get there too

I respect disagreement.
Why live if you can’t speak your mind, right?

I will always say it straight, thus why I spend many nights on the coach.

BK won the SEC West, the best division in CFB, his first year, taking over a 4 win team who had 40 scholarship players.

And yet, after the SEC championship loss, LSU was 9-4, ranked #17 in the final CFP Rankings. Not particularly close to making the CFP

The SEC West was clearly not the best division last year- only Alabama (6), LSU (17), and Mississippi State (22) were in the final rankings

Kelly - great coach. Still he gave absolutely no f’s about recruiting at nd towards the end. He can’t get a pass for that

Per 247, LSU's recruiting class right now is ranked 14th in the country (their lowest rated class since 2018). With 25 commits there's not much room to improve at this point. No five-stars and a low-four at QB.
Sounds familiar.

Kelly is a better fit in the NFL. Good coach overall, but kinda dumb that he thought it'd be easier to win at LSU than at ND. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but the competition is fierce down there. He's not gonna accomplish much if he doesn't recruit as tenaciously as the elite SEC schools

I think the notion that "Freeman took over a top 5 program" overlooks the massive holes that Kelly left behind.

Having such glaring weaknesses at QB and WR, and even OL, left ND in a really bad spot offensively. And it's no surprise that ND's lack of success the past 2 seasons has been primarily due to offense.

Freeman has screwed things up in game day, no question. That said, Kelly has had more than his fair share of game day gaffs.

I don't see much issue with development. The issue I see is primarily talent deficiency at certain spots and obviously very predictable play calling and offensive scheme.

The notion that Freeman took over a “top five” team is ridiculous.

Yes we finished 5th in 2021 and so were ranked 5th in the preseason by lazy voters, but look at what we rolled out at QB last season, at our WRs both seasons. We had like three draft picks last year and we’re not gonna have a bunch this year either.

He inherited a good culture and some strong position groups but also some huge holes in the roster that are only now being filled, largely by Freeman’s recruiting.

BK would have went 11-2 in 2022, Freeman’s first year, even with all those glaring weaknesses.
That’s my point. He can coach.
He would have rotated QBs, mixed-matched WRs, won against horrible teams by closer than should have, but beat bad teams & mediocre teams.
He would have went 11-2, finished around 5th.
That was the program. 11 wins, top 5.

I think he was a 'good' coach.

4-13 against top 10 teams since 2010 (year BK with ND)

IMO, to be a 'Great' coach, that W/L ratio vs top 10 teams needs to be at LEAST .500

Over previous 5 years they were top 5.

Only 4 other programs, over that time, averaged 11 wins with 2 or less losses, (none with zero FCS wins), had multiple CFPs & NY6.

That was a top 5 program.
Those are indisputable facts.

Reap - Imagine what the conversation would be - regardless of what thread (funny how BK took over the Stanford gameday thread huh?) if DJ Brown would have made the INT vs O$U????

Would the 'heart' and 'intensity', etc... of the team would have changed ?!?!

game of inches.....

We were in a worse situation going into 2021 at qb….11-1 season

But only beat one top 25 Wiscy and lost to a top 10 Cincy...... the remaining 10 finished un-ranked.
Freeman hasn’t had a big win yet… Clemson in 2022 was as overrated as they get and usc this year turned out to be a joke

They were both big wins at the time and in reality freeman had nd ready to beat osu this year and the coaching staff especially him blew it
