I’ll never forget “Little Giants” or his smug ass interview after the game.
Two missed penalties on that play would have prevented the TD, such a shame. We got to spoil their 2013 run though, which irks MSU fans to this day.

Funny that MSU hires Dantonio to clean up Tucker's mess...are they aware they're able to hire coaches that HAVEN'T been a part of sexual misconduct cases?

He just looks so comfortable playing QB. Without seeing Minchey, it’s really tough to know if his “upside” is worth the risk.
I agree that he does seem to be very comfortable when playing. Then again, none of his possessions were during a tight game experience or in a hostile environment. Sooooo, 'church is still out' so to speak on how he would handle that.

That's why I'd have him start the last two games.
Let's end the suspense before the portal period.

Thats the point. It is mop up duty. The game is no longer in the balance. The W is secured. When you are named the started and all eyes are on you and the team's performance rests on your shoulders that is totally different than Mop-up Duty.

I know plenty of scratch golfers but put them even on a minor PGA event and they are worse by at least 6 strokes. Same prinicipal.

Anyone who thinks ND should be fine with this QB room should really think about it again. There is one lesson learned by Freeman in his year 1 - recruit QBs unless you clearly have a Top 10 room. Egos of the other QBs be damned.

Almost every back up quarterback in the nation, gets their significant playing time in mop up duty. So it’s OK for everyone else in the country but not Notre Dame?

I don’t understand your point.

You don't understand??? No comprendo?? LOL. My point is getting excited about Mop-up Duty QB play doesn't mean much. Some posters are fine with taking the QB room into the next season without getting an experience Transfer. Not one of these QBs have any experience as a Starter. There is a huge difference between performing in Mop-up Duty and being the Starter. Could he be good? Sure. But the difference in stress load on being the start is significant and it often effects gameplay. Everyone's favorite player on the team is the Backup QB. Because of this, Freeman is wise, for once, to announce he will be going to the portal for an experienced QB. He may start or not, but at least we have an experienced QB - who has likely started elsewhere - to comete for next year's starting QB position....

I hope you understand better now.

Wow you're an asshole.

The point is every starting QB got their experience in mopup at first. Do we never start a QB ND recruited because they don't have experience as a starter? Or do we have to wait until a veteran transfer gets hurt before our recruits get to start?

Comprendo muchacho?

Booger-

That’s before Portal my friend. Get with times. But if you like this QB room great but thankfully you are not the HC. Our HC will go Portal to get an experience-ready QB.

I think it's a given at this point that we'll take a transfer this offseason. Hopefully Angeli will beat him out

Also, no comprendo means "I don't understand"

I think if we get a grad transfer and make this an actual QB competition, not the “QB competition” we had this season, we will have a great QB emerge. Angeli, Minchey, Carr and grad transfer. May the best man win. I wouldn’t be against letting them all get some snaps early in the season against inferior opponents and stay with they guy that has the hot hand. If Carr has the best arm on the team and is making big plays then so be it. If it’s an older guy, so be it.

Any worthwhile transfer is going to want a guaranteed spot.

Yes that is certainly a delicate situation and I’m pretty sure MF and GP can’t and won’t promise that so it will be interesting to see which GT they potentially can get to bite on the opportunity knowing their starting QB role is not assured.

There isn’t anyone good enough to promise a job to that will be in the portal imo. Angeli looks very capable of running our offense. Not sure who we promise a job to at this point. Unless there’s a home run GT that I’m not thinking of, id almost prefer to not take one if we are promising anything. Unless we are taking a future first round pick, I’d take a Buchner/Pyne type and let them all battle it out. I’d love to see a true 4 man battle where nobody is safe.

Angeli for OC.

In all seriousness, I think I've joked so much about Angeli as QB1 next year that it's one of those situations I actually want it now. He clearly has the smarts. I am still skeptical of the overall talent, but if they don't pay big for a transfer QB they should be able to surround him with some quality weapons on top of the current guys being another year more devloped.

My main issue is opening at college station with angeli or minchey and new tackles isn’t a good recipe to win

Why would any grad transfer QB come into their last year of eligibility without assurances? It sounds great on paper and is world class coach speak to claim there will be a QB competition, but it isn't reality.

Assuming ND is shopping for the high-end QB transfer (like Hartman), then whoever is the backup next season will only be getting mop up duty again.

That is fine, but let's get real about what a transfer QB of any salt means for the Steve, Kenny and CJ.

Because unless you're talking Pratt or maybe the guy from K-State, there don't appear to be any Hartman-level transfers out there. No slam-dunk starter face-of-the-program type QBs like we got this year.
But you might find a serviceable P5 QB who can make some throws and wouldn't be making his first start at A&M to open the year, who Angeli or Minchey could gradually overtake as the season progresses. That'd be fine.
