I am still upset with Rees for leaving because of the situation it put ND and Hartman in. Hartman develops more and plays better with Rees. This team is a rudder-less ship with Parker

I believe Tommy’s plan all along was to get in Saban’s ear about how he could be holier than JC if he came to ND won a national championship before he retires. 2025 season HC Nick Saban and OC assistant HC Tommy Rees.

Fans didn't exactly push for him to stay. Very vocal armchair QBs wanted him gone day 1 and never gave him any credit for making lemonade with lemons.

"OC at ND criticized by fanbase while going through dominant defensive stretch." The horror.

Rees and Del left the WR room with empty chairs.

My heart pumps for both of them. Nothing personal, wish them both well, but I'm longing for anyone that isn't here anymore. Dead bang.

Notre Dame didn't force Tommy out.
Tommy fucking quit.

Why are we bumping this thread like we fired him or had a choice in him staying?
Like I’ve stated before, Tommy left because he didn’t believe in Freeman. Sour grapes? Maybe some, but from what I was told they didn’t get along and TR didn’t like how things were ran under MF.

Rees didn't leave anything empty. Check the 2019 and 2020 classes. Those were on Long. Rees brought in Merriweather, Colzie, Greathouse, Rico, Styles, James.

Right. Freshmen (aided by Chansi) and a group of guys who are either gone or not up to it. Colzie has injury stuff. I'm sure that's frustrating and it isn't on him, or anybody reall.

2021 was Merriweather and nobody. They're feeling that right now. 6 spots on the two deep and three are occupied by true freshman and one of them is a walk on.

There's only so much Chansi can do for Merriweather if more often than not the guy can't catch the clap in a whorehouse. He was going to be a healthy scratch for the Duke game if I recall but they didn't have enough healthy receivers. That strikes me as something that arrives more on the lap of the player being accountable than the coaching staff. I've seen it first hand. There is only so much effort a staff can put into you before they have to consider the other guys in the room.

I want Chansi to be able to stock that room with his own guys. Yeah, he's the WR coach and it's on him to a degree. Colzie and Thomas have been banged up, which isn't anyone's fault.

We are bumping it because he was stupid at times to but he tried to change. Parker doesn’t. He thinks he is smarter than everyone and in the end he is the dummy. And he has QB that is just a good college QB but isn’t a game changer.

“Thinks he’s smarter than everyone” was a reasonable criticism to level at Rees, who could sometimes get too clever for his own good. But Parker doesn’t appear to be smart or creative enough for that. He just does the same shit over and over.

After this game Milroe has a higher passer rating than Hartman. Alabama is getting better, we are not. 🤷‍♂️

Name where I said Parker is better than Rees? Nobody sane wanted Parker over Rees lol, that's why everyone was so pissed when he was hired. He was a clear downgrade on paper.

The only thing I'm pushing back on is this weird attempt at re-writing history you're doing here. I was far from a Rees hater, but this need to go back and bump this thread as though we should all retroactively repent for daring to question the guy who was in charge of what was consistently ND's weakest side of the ball is ridiculous.

Rees was a good young OC who was capable of brillance, but at times showed that he needed more growth. ND was aspiring to be a national championship team and the offense was the obvious glaring weakness on the team nearly every year he was here. It would be crazy to imagine that he wouldn't be criticized.

You said he left empty chairs. He didn't leave empty chairs. Whether or not Merriweather lives up to his potential is a different story. Colzie has been injured, also not anyone's fault.

They took one WR in 2021. Merriweather. I Don't know if that's post Covid stuff or what, but that's terrible. That's on Kelly, Rees and Del. Big time.

We could easily assume that Flores, Greathouse and James are here more because of Freeman and Stuckey than anyone else.

I'm not a Tommy basher, but the WR room being what it is right now has something to do with him.

When he wins a Natty this year, I hope he rubs ND's nose in it. Let ND know that they are small time.
Then, when ND comes calling in a couple of years, tell them to pound sand and that he wants to win.

What sort of take is that from a ND fan? Yeah, we lost today. It sucks. But golly mate, do you detest ND that much?

Rees left for whatever reasons, main one was the go be a coach under the greatest in CFB history. A path that has led to many others getting big time P5 head coaching gigs, and NFL OC jobs.

ND deserves to be humiliated for the way its treated the football program.

Del only took two, and one flipped at the end. If I recall we wanted to take another, but Del didn't like anyone else in the class that was interested or some shit. It's surprising Merriweather even stayed on after the brisket incident, Freeman and Rees saved that one I guess.

Also, Rees schooled BK tonight. After a slow start Bama is looking to be in the driver's seat for the SEC West. They've got Kentucky and Auburn left, while Ole Miss is the next closest and they've still got to get by Georgia.

IMO Tommy deserves the credit for the rise in Alabama's offensive success.
There were three games of decision making about the QBs as Saban said.
Saban was "wanting to see what we had" since it wasn't obvious in practice conditions (as we saw constantly with Buchner.)
Fourth game, raw rookie Milrose was settled in. Alabama gets better as he gets more comfortable.
Tommy puts in more and more offense which suits what Milroe has been able to learn, with a free-lance attitude that he's good at.
In the first two drives vs LSU, Tommy's plan was brilliant --- the dynamism between that and us vs Clemson was shocking.
Could it be that Saban knew what he was doing when he hired Tommy Rees?
... could it be that we didn't when we managed to lose him so easily?
... could Freeman have any tiny piece of the blame here ... oh no ... can't go there, I realize.
