Lane also trolled Saban by posting Taylor Swift's song Castles Crumbling:

Once, I had an empire in a golden age
I was held up so high, I used to be great
They used to cheer when they saw my face
Now, I fear I have fallen from grace
And I feel like my castle's crumbling down
And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground
And you don't want to know me
I will just let you down
You don't wanna know me now
Once, I was the great hope for a dynasty
Crowds would hang on my words, and they trusted me
Their faith was strong, but I pushed it too far
I held that grudge 'til it tore me apart
Power went to my head, and I couldn't stop
Ones I loved tried to help, so I ran them off
And here I sit alone, behind walls of regret
Falling down like promises that I never kept
And I feel like my castle's crumbling down
And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground
And you don't want to know me
I will just let you down
You don't wanna know me now (now)
My foes and friends watch my reign end
I don't know how it could've ended this way
Smoke billows from my ships in the harbor
People look at me like I'm a monster
Now they're screaming at the palace front gates, used to chant my name
Now they're screaming that they hate me
Never wanted you to hate me
My castle's crumbling down
And I watch all my bridges burn to the ground
And you don't want to know me
I will just let you down (just let you down)
My castle's crumbling down
You don't wanna know me now

They'll be fine unfortunately. If an SEC team beats an SEC team, they should go up 7 spots, but if an SEC team loses to an SEC team, they should drop 3-4 spots. It's always a net positive regardless of how mediocre their OOC record is.

I'm not so sure - they lack the half dozen top 10 teams they usually sport four weeks into the season. They will have reinforcements next year when Texas and Oklahoma bring up the average but this year their built in advantage is starting off well behind. If those non-SEC Top 10 teams keep winning it will not bode well for SoS. Most of the top 10 has a pretty favorable first half of the schedule and I don't see where SEC teams are going to get 1) notable wins or 2) a ton of bad losses in front of them to clear the way. If we beat OSU by two touchdowns shouldn't they be the top ranked one loss team ahead of LSU and Bama?

Michigan's schedule is back end loaded -- OSU and PSU are only ranked opponents and they don't meet those challenges until mid November.

Texas plays Oklahoma on 10/7 and no other ranked opponents - if they do end up losing few games it really won't look good for Bama.

FSU goes to Clemson this weekend and get Miami and Duke at home later, end the year at Florida.

USC - I have a hard time believing the Pac12 has half a dozen ranked teams but here we are. Please Lord, let us beat these twats and claim a transitive conference title. Odds are they lose one besides us. I don't think it will be Colorado next week and they come in to ND undefeated. Do they bounce back against Utah the week after ND? Washington, Oregon and UCLA to finish the season looks tough right now but we will see where they all rank come November. Will this ranked on ranked action in the Pac12 have an SEC effect of propping up rankings?

OSU - Outside ND/PSU/UM they should cake walk. Lose to ND and beat PSU is my hope. Then beat Michigan and give us a transitive B1G 'ship.

PSU - Can't wait to see these guys go 9-3 with losses against every ranked team including Iowa this weekend to still finish with a Top 20 ranking. Total SEC type move.

Washington, Oregon, Utah - see USC, Pac12 should get interesting. Unlike the SEC, the unranked are likely to hang a loss on a big dog or two and f-up the works. I think Colorado gets emasculated the next two weeks @Oregon and hosting USC creating some stupid hype about how amazing USC and Oregon are. Flip that to @USC followed by hosting Oregon and I think Colorado takes down the ducks. That storyline will draw a ton of eyeballs and hopefully pumps up USC heading into ND. Easy to imagine a pile of good 2-3 loss teams in that conference.

I could see Ole Miss winning this game, but then again, I could see Alabama putting Ole Miss to the sword without mercy.

It's going to be such a telling game regardless. I just love how Kiffin pokes at Saban every year.

Bama loses and we will have our first two loss team in the Top 25.

Pete Golding didn't lose many games at Bama, but when he did, they gave up a lotta points.

A LOTTA points.

UGA plays UK, so one of them will have a loss by Saturday night. LSU goes to Mizzou coming off of that debacle at Ole Miss. If Mizzou beats them, they still have to play UK and UGA ahead.

I hope they all continue to pluck each other off one by one.

Georgia is having difficulties stopping the run, and Kentucky / Ray Davis can pound it. That said, I agree with you...something about this just seems off. If it were in Lexington, I'd be more optimistic on Kentucky's chances. I think Georgia comes out and finally makes a statement...35-14 type game.

I’m having a hard time not backing up the truck on Kentucky. USC/ Auburn both came close. Kentucky seems better than those two.

I would agree…..the game in Lex would have me believing an upset was imminent. The game in Athens tells me the Fighting Stoops have a shot.

UGA has Brock Bowers. Evidently to a lot of people he's the greatest tight end in the history of college football.

Kentucky clearly has no chance if that is actually the case.

UGA also has 4-5 other guys that will be Day 1 picks in 2024, while Kentucky likely has 0.

He was second best last year… at best. Mackey Award is a hoax. I’ll die on this hill.

I mean, if the price of oil keeps going up, TAMU might have a shot but otherwise I think you're right.
I mean, maybe if the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund gets involved, but it's hard to imagine that the Aggies would be willing to actually spend so much above market value for Kirby that he'd leave Athens.

Listen, ND is going to have Tom Herman as OC and Dan Mullen as QB coach next year because on the Internet virtually anything is possible.

Conference is about the same the issue is thru NIL and transfer portal other teams have caught up-the under the table deals that had players going to the sec in the past are now on the table for everyone to use at other schools so the playing field has been leveled-i hated that it happened this way ( professionalism) but this total sec dominance package of the past is over-everyone can do it now cause its legal. Before it was under the table cheating. Even in their own conference one team looks just as good as another.

The total dominance thing never happened. Florida, Alabama, LSU and UGA won multiple national championships. Cam Newton got one.

Is NIL and The Portal leveling things out? Most likely yes, but there are 6 teams from the SEC currently ranked in the AP Top 25 with a few others getting votes. It's going to take some time for the balance to really shift so that this perception no longer exists and I think that's really all that is. Perception. What doesn't get spoken about is the amount of players the SEC has had drafted into the NFL every year. They're hanging their hat on the wrong damn thing because at the end of the day these teams have shown up to bowl games and have not displayed dominance.

Alabama just beat Arkansas for the 17th year in a row and they've played each other every year since 1992. Arkansas is not going into any of the other conferences and beating their top teams. The same can be said for Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc. The weird tribal "SEC" chanting thing is either being done by fan bases who are riding the coattails of the few teams that are actually good or it's been done out of some misdirected regional pride because their program is doing the heavy lifting.

perhaps I don't understand because the team I support has been Independent my entire life and I don't really give a crap who else on their schedule succeeds, but for me there is nothing here to see. Nick Saban became what many consider to be the greatest coach of all time by kicking these people's asses and they're supposed to be dominant?

Kirby’s buyout would be around $75M IIRC. Add the buyout of his staff and a buyout is going to hover around $100M. Need to pump a lot of oil to make that happen.
