I really wonder if the kid is over thinking shit at this point and not just playing.

Something is in is head.
He looks like a track guy learning how to play football. Nothing with him looks natural or fluid. Merriweather is a great looking athlete, but just not at all fluid.

I get that, but I feel like catching a ball coming at you is something all athletes have been doing since they found out they really like sports.

You have been wrong about everything you've attacked me for over the past 6 weeks. Dead wrong .

I hope to God he turns it on but we've been given an ample sample at this point.
Yeah he doesn’t look good at anything

I was bullish on him before the season, so this is purely based on what he’s showing or not showing on the field.

I feel badly being harsh but that is literally the worst game I can remember a receiver having based on number of throws that went his way. Just atrocious play. You recruit over him at this point. I don’t know how you plan for him to be a player going forward. So much of it is lack of effort

Time to take a serious look at Braylon James and Faison. And KK Smith if he's medically cleared, although he's a real longshot considering he hasn't practiced much, if at all.

We need help at WR, its probably going to cost us some wins unless Greathouse and Thomas are 100% soon which is usually not how hamstring injuries work.

Most of Sam's incompletions were throw aways due to poor blocking and/or nobody open.

That’s not exactly true. He had Tyree open twice but Sam already made his mind up where the ball was going. Evans bailed him out with that top 10 play of the week catch. His missed Rico in the third and he was wide open.

Sam was good but not great. And apparently he was really good on the final drive but for the first time in my life I had enough of the piss poor play and turned the game off.

Didn't have one. Didn't he play one play? Random question.

So this is the guy we're hoping to get at RB?

Seems really small, and doesn't do anything spectacularly well IMO. He has good hands, but short, light, and without great speed? This would be a good get for Navy, but for ND?

I would pass if I were the staff, and try to get some momentum elsewhere.

ability to play the position or not be damned - This is not an acceptable level of effort from one of your starters (and this isnt about Mitchell Evans)

To be fair, I've noticed numerous times that he is busting his ass blocking downfield and helping extend plays. This would very much be the exception, not the rule from what I've seen.

Toby just ain't a rugby scrum guy.

(He does get props for blocking downfield, and hustling to try and make the last block on several long runs. He's been the first in the endzone to celebrate with Estimate a couple of times now, hauling ass to help with final blocks. That effort needs to be applied everywhere in his game, though.)

he literally about gets ran over from somone hustling 10+ yards downfield because hes turning around to head to the huddle while evans is fighting for yards.

He doesnt have to go jump in a rugby scrum. find someone (other than your own teammate) to get in the way of.

Effort.

He's halfway through year two. Something has to give, and soon, because he has talent younger than him coming through fast and furious. He's going to lose his seat at the bowl.

I think Stuckey is one of the best coaches on the team. He said the expectation is that Tobias is a special talent. Either I need to reassess my view of Stuckey or we need to give them some time to get this right.

As we all know…..talent and production don’t always seem to match up. Some of that is on the coach but in the end, most of the will to be great is on the individual player. How many times have we seen great talent get wasted because the individual doesn’t have the drive and/or discipline to turn that into great production? I hope Tobias can do what it takes to get there.

TM is one piece of Stuckey's overall evaluation. Flores and Greathouse are seeing the field. James is close. Tyree looks good. Thomas and Colzie are injured but looked strong, solid at worst early on.

I don't know how much Matt Salerno would be playing had he not been injured, but it's looking like the program is not going to be in a position where Matt Salerno plays in all 13 games again.

The situation in that room was not going to be fixed immediately after Del got fired.

To me, TM has elite physical ability, but not the mental make-up of an elite WR. I think we saw this recently with guys like Equanimeous SB and Miles Boykin.

I think Stuckey started in such a hole at WR, relative to other elite teams, that it will be very hard to judge him in either direction at ND. He'll leave before he has enough time to fix the room.
