He dropped his hips a touch immediately before the snap.

As an ND fan, I would’ve been pissed had they made that call against the Irish lol, especially in the context of how much freedom of movement they allow OL in their stances now.

Just imo, though… I’m not here to stick up for pOSU.

Got a question that has been on my mind. Why the hell did OSU not just take a knee on the EP? What was the point of kicking there?

GameClock doesn't run on on EPs and 2 point conversions. Remember the spread for the game started at tOSU -1.5 before it settled at 3/3.5 so there were thousands of bets on ND +2 and ND +2.5 so with that extra point those bets lose and the tOSU -2/-2.5 bets that were less win. That extra point had a lot of $$$ exchange hands. ND hand a large amount of the handle on the ML and the spread and unless you got them at +3.5 you either loss or pushed.

My question wasn’t gambling related. My point is why would you run the risk with one second left for ND to put up a two point play and tie the game?

I gave you the answer
I can't imagine Ohio State's coaching staff cares a bit about the handle on the money line. They just went for the extra point because - unlike our staff apparently - they've been in enough big games to know you're better off not overthinking things. Kick the extra point and just don't fuck it up.

From a math standpoint, I would think the rational move would be to go for two and take a knee. Notre Dame couldn't possibly get into field goal range with 1 second.

But yes I agree I dont think they were trying to cover the spread. Just being idiots like our own coaching staff

Penalties could get you into field goal range, albeit a long one… kick out of bounds, then pass interference gets you to 67 yard kick
