BK catchin' flak for his post game interview
Let's all catch a glimpse inside of Jayden Daniels' head:
BK catchin' flak for his post game interview
Oh Pleeezzzee... LOLDick rider doesn't mean encouraging or riding one's ass. Being a dick rider means to support someone to the fullest even when they don't deserve it. If your fave coach, athlete, musician, or anyone for that matter does something that turns off 95% of people....the other 5% would be considered "dick riders" For example, anyone who says BK is a big game coach would be considered a "BK dick rider" Glad to have helped!
When Kelly took the LSU job my prediction was that he'd go 9-3/10-2 most seasons with an occasional 11-1 mixed in. Basically, they'd finish top 10-15 every year. The program will be more stable than it was under Coach O, but I don't see Kelly winning a national title and beating Saban and Kirby consistently. It's tough to teach an old dog new tricks.
Kelly is a B+ coach. Okay recruiter (which won't hurt him in Louisiana), good CEO-type, fairly decent gameday coach. He'll get 10 and 11 win seasons at LSU, restore stability to the program, and develop good players. But I don't believe he's a title-winning coach, mostly because I don't think he's someone who can give a team the extra Xs and Os edge it needs to win close games against an opponent with equal talent. And playing in the SEC, the big boys will always have equal talent.
I think all of his strengths were on display throughout last season, and all of his flaws were on display on Sunday night.
This is a really good point, well said.BK has never been a motivational master. He makes his money on being calm, cool and collected, and then turning into a dickhead when he needs to get a little more out of someone. He better figure out how to do some new things at LSU, including motivating his team week-to-week, and not just for one-off moments like Bama last year.
When I was a teen, a cigarette was called a fag. How slang language has changed.I mean, he's too light to be a MLB. His skill set is rushing off the edge and getting to the QB. He's not reactionary playing the MLB. Also, if your secondary is your biggest weakness, wouldn't you want to put him on the edge to quickly get pressure on the QB? Nah...let's stick him at MLB and drop him back in pass coverage while Jordan Travis has all day to find an open WR.
Fuck, I want to go burn a heater now, and I haven't had a cigarette since January.
No he makes his money on being able to find the perfect timing to pounce on a crazy opportunity. LSU was asking to taken to the cleaners and Kelly's agent was friends with the LSU AD. Its all about BK and his wallet. He is self-serving, golfing jackass. But he is a good coach. But it looks like he will not beat Saban and Smart. This is a really good point, well said.
I don't remember too many rah-rah moments at ND outside of maybe 2012 when he gave that impassioned speech in East Lansing "I hope that when you hear the words, 'We are ND,' that you get filled up with tremendous pride."
Outside of that, just a lot of "calm, cool and collected," as you said, pregame interviews and press conferences followed by red-faced yelling and screaming at the first sign of trouble.
I agree with you that LSU's floor is too low to fail. They'll win another 8-10 games this year more than likely, and his seat will warm up considerably, but usually the third year in a new program is the year a coaching staff is supposed to take its biggest leap.
Oh Pleeezzzee... LOL
FWIW to Educate you:
I agree with all this. In fact, you’re pretty spot on.When Kelly took the LSU job my prediction was that he'd go 9-3/10-2 most seasons with an occasional 11-1 mixed in. Basically, they'd finish top 10-15 every year. The program will be more stable than it was under Coach O, but I don't see Kelly winning a national title and beating Saban and Kirby consistently.
Time will tell if FSU is the real deal or if LSU just shit the bed. This is the problem with Kelly's high-blood pressure approach. Sometimes his guys respond but sometimes they flinch in the moment. I think it's a culture thing and I don't know if Kelly will find enough synergy with his hires and recruiting to take you guys where you want. He's a program stabilizer, he's good at building up processes around him but I think his entire methodology of interacting with his players is very old school. His inner politician can leave players feeling cold/distant from their program leader. Keep an eye on this.I rewatched the game yesterday - apparently I'm a glutton for punishment. It was a sloppy game by both teams, but I don't think it's the end of the world for LSU. We arguably outplayed them in the first half; however, we just couldn't capitalize when we needed to.
I said a few days before the game that our glaring weakness - the secondary - does not matchup up at all against their elite wide receivers. Let this marinate, LSU's own pre and postgame host for the LSU Sports Radio Network, Hunt Palmer, went on the record and predicted FSU to win due to this huge discrepancy. I mean, talk about blatant honesty.
The fact is, we've got transfers from South Eastern Louisiana, Marshall, and Syracuse trying to cover their elite wide receivers. That's a talent issue. This is one of our worst secondaries in decades. Sadly, it stung even more when FSU's leading wide receiver, Keon Coleman, who had 9 catches for 122 yards and 3 touchdowns is from our own backyard - Opelousas, Louisiana.
That said, we played pretty sloppy and didn't simply capitalize. LSU's run blocking was poor, we dropped key, critical passes. For example, the last play in the 3rd quarter, it's a 24-17 game, and on a 1st and 10, Brian Thomas simply drops a would be 45 yard completion that would have put us inside the FSU 10 yard line to go in for the tie. Kelly even asked, "What the hell happened?" A better thrown ball would have been 6 (assuming he caught it). The next play, Daniels throws that interception and it just snowballed after that.
In sum, they were the better team, the more physical team, and the more complete team. They outcoached us on offense, defense, and special teams. It's pretty simple; they're just better than we are.
Now, for the silver lining:
-Admittedly, I'm no Belichick, Saban, or Driskell, but I truly believe that FSU is the best team we'll play all year. I honestly think they would be Alabama. If you stuck them in the SEC, they are the 2nd best team in the league - maybes 1st (I'd have to see Georgia's QB play).
-Like ND, they've got a great, 6th year QB, their wide receivers, defensive, and offensive lines are experienced and elite. Their linebackers and secondary are plenty adequate.
-After watching the Clemson - Duke game last night, and not to take anything away from Duke and Elko (they're a legitimate top 25 team), but FSU is routing Clemson. Quickly glancing at their schedule: Southern Miss, @ BC, @ Clemson, VT, Syracuse, Duke, @ Wake, @ Pitt, Miami, North Alabama, @ Florida...I don't see one loss. I know the ACC has scrapped its divisions, but I presume their opponent in the Championship game would be UNC, Clemson (again), maybe Duke? UNC would be a good one, but again, I'm not sure FSU is losing in the regular season and ACC-Championship. Again, I'm not Saban or Coach-D, but I think they're a legitimate Playoff and championship contender.
FIFY. No, I went to ND and NU for business school (Kellogg MM). No homeschooling for me or my kids. Plenty of links to support above anyways. Also, common sense. So Reddit is your go to knowledge base? I hope you're not homeschooling.
Oh well…on an unrelated note, go kick the shit out of NC State! Make a statement! I’ve heard / read not-so-good things of Ohio State’s offense/QB from the Indiana game as well. Also, after last night’s Duke - Clemson game, this may be a very, very special year for the Irish. Show up early to the tailgates, over indulge, get into the stadium early and stay loud! I’m excited for y’all.
(Alexa, play Rakes of Mallow - the Rudy version - and Damhsa Bua!)
Same as I just posted. I will be interesting to see how much they have to pay Kelly to leave. They paid Coach O - what? $19MM? That will be 2 or 3X of that....OMG. At least Coach O got them a Natty.I continue to believe that the reason BK took the LSU job was 90% about the $$$$'s. BK got a golden parachute offer and he took it. He knew that ND would NEVER give him anything remotely close to the 10 year 95 million dollar offer he got. Last contract that gets him to age 70.
The remaining 10% about recruiting, resources and national championships become his main talking points to try to endear himself to the LSU community. I don't doubt that he sincerely believes those things. I just doubt that they were the primary motivation for the move.
Agree and who wouldn't take that kind of a money grab if presented with it? The other 10% is just excuses to hide behind without saying it's all about the money. If he were to do that, the criticism he got for leaving would pale in comparison.I continue to believe that the reason BK took the LSU job was 90% about the $$$$'s. This one is pretty good.
Excellent points. He's like most CEO's at large corporations that can't relate to the employees who work for him. And as mentioned before, his pregame speeches kind of show how he wasn't personally invested as much in the program as he needed to be. No passion.Time will tell if FSU is the real deal or if LSU just shit the bed. This is the problem with Kelly's high-blood pressure approach. Again, Kelly may surprise, LSU may win out from here but I wouldn't put money on it.
He just keeps opening his mouth.
Atypical of Kelly trying 'walk back' something he obviously said now it's no so according to him. What a douche bag! F*ck Kelly and LSU!!! Also, F*ck Meatchicken!!!That doesn’t really bother me too much. The comment wasn’t too bad, just displaying confidence in his team. Maybe he forgot about it? Maybe he was in the heat of the moment and trying to fire up the fans at TJ Ribs or Walk On’s or wherever the call in show is now held. Kind of an odd thing to lie about, though? He could have easily crafted his answer yesterday in his favor.
I'd follow you into battle!Atypical of Kelly trying 'walk back' something he obviously said now it's no so according to him. What a douche bag! F*ck Kelly and LSU!!! Also, F*ck Meatchicken!!!

Yeah, it's just...weird to now back peddle. Just own it, and people will pretty much instantaneously move on. BK was in politics prior to coaching, right? Once a liar...One thing I always found frustrating with him is how this kind of shit is so avoidable. Being confident and saying "We're gonna beat the heck out of ..." isn't a big deal. Backpedaling is stupid and is what earns the derision. Just own it. Say you were confident, but you got your brains beat in and will be ready the next time. No one will ever gaf if you just say that.
No idea why he can't NOT constantly do shit like this.
