Irsay is an idiot for once again popping off in the media bc he can’t keep his mouth shut.

However I don’t think he’s wrong at all in his position on RB or not being inclined to give JT a huge, lucrative extension right now.

Irsay will negotiate a new contract, but not until the 23 season is over.

Depending on the return I’m fine with it.

What’s the least you’ll take? Can’t imagine the Colts would get too much. Quite a bit less than the McCaffrey deal for sure.

Jim Irsay is a classless douche. Who says this about their best player?

"I mean, if I die tonight and Jonathan Taylor's out of the league, no one's going to miss us," he told reporters. "The league goes on. We know that. The National Football (League) rolls on. It doesn't matter who comes and who goes, and it's a privilege to be part of it. Now's the time for us to do our work. Now's the time as an organization. And, you know, players who are 24, 25 years old, now's the time to seize the moment."

You can have the opinion that Taylor should play out his contract but he just publicly shit all over his player to do it.

I’m not convinced Irsay isn’t back on the sauce. JT might be “replaceable” but you’re not going to get equal value. Really wish Jim would just shut his fucking mouth.

After being a great owner for a long time, Irsay has opened his mouth quite a bit the last couple of years. He needs to shut up and let Ballard run the team.

Whether Taylor and other RB’s like it or not, the game has evolved to where the position isn’t the second most important position on the team. Plus, it’s probably the easiest position to replace without a significant impact to the team.

If Taylor isn’t traded, Irsay will offer him a nice contract after the season is over. That’s how he operates. The damage may be enough that Taylor won’t sign and will want to be someplace else.

And now reports are saying Taylor has back pain, but he tweeted that's not true. Nice soap opera.

If you were going to tank the season you should’ve just traded back in the draft and picked up a stud Olineman to pair with Nelson and waited for next year to draft Maye or Williams, both of which are way better than Richardson.

They fell in love with him last August. They were taking him.

Good news is I traded Nick Chubb in my keeper league because I had Jonathan Taylor, Breece Hall, and James Cook.

I still really like that RB room you've got there. The only thing I'd worry about is if Dalvin Cook comes out HOT and stays healthy, I'm curious if they don't keep Breece's touches down this year to keep him healthy for 2024 and beyond, knowing that Cook is on a one year deal. That would water down your depth a bit.

Not having Chubb hurts, but you definitely dealt from a position of strength. It's crazy how much the landscape of this league changes in one short offseason....

What happened last August?

Watch the Colts draft series. I think it's called 'With The Next Pick.'

You'll see the whole evolution of scouting him and anxiety about losing him. Fascinating if you want to know how the NFL evaluates and scouts. And it's not very long.

My hand was forced to some degree. I can keep 2, plus a 3rd if it's a rookie. So, I had to deal one of the 4. I did the deal before the Taylor/Irsay situation and Cook to NY smoke got started. Felt really good about those 3 at the time, and I still do long term, but I definitely traded away the guy that seems likely to have the best 2023 season.

Super high on James Cook having a Tony Pollard like ascension in Buffalo and Breece Hall was a dude last year before his injury. It seems like I'll have to wait another season for that to really pay off. This Jonathan Taylor situation is the one that really irks me though.

Because to start next season, I'll only be able to keep 2 of the above 3. I was hopeful I'd be able to get significant value for Taylor. Now, I'm starting to get concerned. Colts tank and Taylor is disgruntled all year, that doesn't sound very promising.

Colts granting Taylor the right to seek a trade. Rumored to want a first for him. Seems Taylor will want a commitment of a long term contract. However, getting out of Indy might be motivation enough. No hate Colts fans.

yeah they want a first or something equivalent of what SF gave up for McCaffery.

I dont think they will find a taker.

This is letting him see for himself what RBs are worth. It’s just not an RB league anymore, no matter how much they want it to be so. Not only are they not going to get any takers on the trade, the JT camp is going to find out there aren’t any 16M deals out there, there may not even be an 12m deals. A tough lesson to learn for the kid.

Agree, the Colts are letting him look because they know no one will give them a first or a couple of seconds. The only possibility is if a team thinks they are a RB away from getting to the SB.

My guess is Taylor is back in uniform for the second week.

If he doesn’t already know he will find out Irsay was just guilty of saying the quiet part out loud.
