On the Q&A on IB someone asked if ND would take both Shaw & KVA & they responded “no.”

If true, this could end up screwing ND again.
They don’t take Shaw because they wait on KVA, who doesn’t choose ND, & lose out on both (like Safety situation).

Jamie U thinks they should take both (if possible)

Out of curiosity do you feel we should take 40 plus this cycle? It seems like you want to take everybody and their mothers.
No but with guys leaving early and transfer portal 30 would be ideal. I don't know the exact numbers but Ott is most likely gone, Fischer could leave after this year, Audric could go to the draft.

I might lose it if this happens. TAKE ALL THE TALENT NOW. Sort it out later. Good grief.

So if I'm reading this right, it looks like we're out on Shaw.

Hoover LB focusing on two as he heads into senior season

Hoover, Alabama—One of the top linebacker prospects in the country, Hoover linebacker Bradley Shaw is nearing a decision and is focusing on just two schools as he prepares to announce sometime during his senior year with the Bucs. Those two schools are in-state rivals Auburn and Alabama.

Were they ever really in is the real question.
Some of the paid sites seemed to think we were the leader or right in the top 2. Hate to say it, but if they got that info from the staff then the staff is pretty bad at reading recruits.

If that's the case the staff better hope we land Asa or they'll look dumb
I don't think there's much of a chance they land KVA. A lot of pressure on the staff to deliver at DT, LB, and S in 2025. They really can't afford to take any projects at those positions.

Post visit, it seemed like we were in a great position. Then I read things like, if they miss on KVA they'll turn up the heat on Shaw. And, it makes me think we decided it was one or the other and they prioritized KVA.

Can't see any way how this goes sideways and Notre Dame ends up with neither of them.

Of course they did. That's track 2 off of the Recruiting Greatest Hits playlist. Then when it doesn't actually turn out that way, the douche crew gets into a tizzy out here in every other thread. College football coaches are quite often incredibly over optimistic about their chances on everything from their next opponent to recruiting to getting scratch off lottery tickets with their energy drinks at 7-11.

And this is Track 1.

If these "reports" are taken literally, the pattern is going to repeat itself over and over again. I think these ND guys are purposely leading our internet fan base around like the carnival barkers they are.

IB said they were told ND would accept Shaw’s commitment and still push hard for KVA.
KVA is a take no matter what. The question was if KVA committed would they still push for Shaw. But ND would not have turned down Shaw.

ISD pretty much stated that there is zero correlation with Shaw's leanings and where KVA is going to decide.

That said, I think the article is focusing more on where Shaw is going to OV this season, which is why Auburn and Alabama are the focus. He already OV'd to ND, so he can't OV again.

So, then they just flat out lost Shaw's recruitment. We can go with that then.

Does anyone believe anything coming from the ND sites at this point? Unless its a direct quote from a recruit or an action (e.g. scheduling a visit / decision date), Idk how you can take them seriously. The staff has seemingly shut them out and is only feeding them optimistic BS.

Absolutely not. The collateral damage is more than I can bare when it comes to message boards and social media because too many people do and get out in front of their own skis only to wind up disappointed when things don't go the way they want.

I don't know the exact reasons for it and if the coaching staff is playing some kind of role in the information that is going out but it has made an already annoying entity known as recruiting even more irritating than it already was.

If you're someone like Tom Loy who apparently has a long history of being told that the staff feels very confident about recruits that end up elsewhere, what do you do?

No IF's about it. They most certainly do.

I think it is incumbent upon people like the ND beat people and ND message board posters/readers to understand that this is the parlance of our times right now. You choose to jump to conclusions and get excited about the news that comes out or not.

The Rivals, 247 and On3 types are going to benefit from getting people's hopes up. It is left up to ND fans to take whatever they're saying with a grain of salt.

The last several months frequenting this board have taught me some valuable lessons with this. If a guy isn't at least verbally committed, I could really care less what these dudes are telling us.

You keep just repeating what the staff says, and then when you're wrong, say things like "No one saw this coming" or "This is completely unexpected". That way, you're never wrong!!!

Also, frankly, it feels like the recruiting reporters get a lot less useful information from recruits’ camps than they used to. They seem to only have program sources anymore, which makes you a lot more vulnerable to having sunshine pumped up your ass.

Of course recruits play games too (Dante Moore) And I realize that for all but the biggest recruits, developing relationships with players, families, high school coaches is a giant pain in the ass. But recruiting reporting is many of these guys’ full-time jobs. And the very first thing they teach you in journalism school or any reporting job is that there are multiple sides to any story.

You’d think Loy would be better at realizing the Gug is full of shit by now instead of telling the board he’s “close to a CB”. Guy can’t help himself

Half (of the non-pornography portion) of Reddit is conspiracy cults taking L after L in predictions and still chugging along. The only losing move is not hyping up your audience.

No, I don't feel confident on any ND sites. I used to go to 3: Irishsportsdaily, 247, and Blue & Gold Illustrated. Lately I've been going to 247 and I wish Steve Wiltfong or Eric Hansen covered ND recruiting.

I would say that Irishenvy provides the best recruiting info. with what our (good) posters post.
