I'm sure me - a 44-year-old man with kids and a job - yelling about recruiting on an internet message board will help Notre Dame win a title.
No, but if the fanbase as a whole turns on the staff, it can put the necessary pressure to get things done.

Truly hope the Rezac’s don’t read IE.

Is there a way to get rid of his high school kid hate in every thread?

POY..........lol
Father Jenkins: Jack, the fan base is upset about the level of recruiting for Our Lady's football program.
Jack S.: I noticed that as well Father.
Father Jenkins: Jack, I don't want to step on your toes, but have you thought about making a change?
Jack S.: I wasn't until I saw the posts from Polk High 44 on IE. The dude is football smart!
Father Jenkins: If you want to dump Marcus, go ahead. We need to keep Polk High 44 happy.
Jack S: Consider it done.

It’s either they know something nobody else does or it’s relatively bad for someone who is a contender.

A few years from now, this staff is going to look like "Money Ball" geniuses or clowns. Fwiw, I think they're going to hit on a lot of these guys. My personal opinion though, is for every Rezac you take, you need a KVA as well.

Agree.... I think it's tough as fans because the coaches are taking commitments from the higher risk players to not pan out instead of landing the "more likely" to pan out players first. Everyone feels great about WR because we landed Cam Williams first.

I'm 50/50 on it. On the one hand, I love that Freeman is making sure the class is complete, well-rounded, and we're not left with "empty" position groups (WRs a few years back, safety last class). I'm a big proponent of filling the class at every position to make sure we're never thin.

That being said...Freeman was sold to us as the guy who would put us at a different level than Kelly on the recruiting trail. This class isn't done, and obviously the last few classes have been very, very good - but we need to close the gap with the OSUs and Clemsons of the world first before even thinking about getting to a Bama/Georgia level (which, let's be real, probably is never going to happen). And this class doesn't look like it's going to be that next step up.

Again, I'm willing to be patient, and I do think there's something to be said about making sure every position is filled. But we need to start getting more top 50 recruits. It's as simple as that.

Agree with your points, but Freeman's not going to be able to do that unless either ND plays ball with upfront NIL like every other P5 school in the country is, or federal legislation actually occurs. Others have said it, but if Freeman was hired in the 2010s, ND probably brings in a top 5 class every year.

They revamped the scouting department. Right or wrong this seems like a deliberate strategy to forge their own path in evaluating prospects.

Fair point. But is OSU playing the NIL game? I thought I read that they weren't, yet they signed a Top 5 class last year.

How about Clemson? Again, I'm not being a wiseass, I'm truly wondering. Because those are the two teams where I think ND needs to be in competition with re: class ranking year after year.

My impression is that their NIL game is nowhere near the level of SEC programs, but is definitely ahead of ND's.

OSU claims they aren't, but they're also trying to bring in $15MM/year for football NIL which on average is $175K/year per player...
No clue about Clemson.

I should also clarify, I don't really have a problem with ND's approach because we know they are dropping some upfront money for transfers which is definitely a better ROI than high schoolers. It will just be tough to recruit at that level for high schoolers without it, I fear. Top 50 prospects are largely getting paid.

I went back and looked at the number of players in the top 500 from the 2013-2017 classes who were either drafted or have played in the NFL. 70% of the top 50 players from those classes were hits, so if there's ever a group of HS players to drop bags for, it's them. The success rate of players ranked 51-100 is 44%, and then it goes down to 34% for players ranked 101-150.
