Doesn't he have two pick-6's to his name?

Maybe in an effort to be "different," they sorted their list by defensive touchdowns for some help with the rankings lol

To be fair, I was firmly on the train that Corey Robinson was a candidate for "the best that never was" for ND. Dude was built different when it came to positioning himself for the football in the air.

I agree. Was a favorite of mine just by the way he carried himself and cared about ND. But man that drop at Clemson in 2015.

Sounds like he’s one of the rare football players who could get accepted solely on merit.

This is sort of cheating, but a few of the walkons, not the PWO’s, but actual walkons, who eventually earned scholarships, got in originally on merit.

Even PWO’s get a little help in admissions… if they need it. Then there’s the Asaaf bros.

We recruit enough kids from high level private schools at this point that I’m sure some of them could get in even if they didn’t play football. Buchner, for instance. (His sister did, right?)

Way to go Jack! Never seen a ND linebacker play corner, safety, walked-up olb, and rover all in the same game! Amazing versatility, well done.

And yet he only played 10 snaps against Ohio State and 17 against USC. Not sure what to make of that- the coaches don't know what they're doing or the PFF grades aren't that relevant. If he was this good of a player, you'd think the coaches could find ways to put him on the field more even with all of the nickel that we play

Say what you want about Kiser, buts he been outr top graded linebacker the last three seasons.

For all those confused about why he’s being mentioned in NFL circles, it’s because of his quality of play.

Which begs the question why they dont find ways to get him more snaps

Grades are close to worthless. You get a +1 if you "do your job" on a play and a "0" if you don't. No matter if cause havoc or not, beat your man or not, etc. Xavier Watts would have got a total of "3" on his two INTs and fumble touchdown all the same as Nana setting the edge on 3 running plays and not making a tackle.

No NFL team drafts using grades as a leading signal. Kiser's really good at being where he's supposed to be and making no impact on the play.

Grades are only useful to ID players who are always in the wrong spot or getting beat (think Sneed). So when people are seeing him fly around and cause pressure and wonder why he's not playing, grading might actually be relevant, showing that he's in wrong spot too often.

He doesn’t play as much as the other linebackers because he’s the odd man out when they go to nickel. It’s really that simple.

His snaps are limited, and I'm sure they're using him in situations that highlight his strengths and conceal his physical limitations. So basically he's being put in a position to succeed provided he's assignment ready, and this kid seems like he's always mentally ready.

Yes, but the question remains- if the PFF grade is accurate, why is he the odd man out? Why are the coaches choosing Liufau/Bertrand over Kiser so frequently? You'd think a smart player like Kiser could play at multiple LB spots, and it's not like Liufau is all that special

See above. Kiser hasn't made a play all year. JD has stepped up big last few games and Marist causes pressure.

Sneed should continue to take snaps from Kiser when he can.

This is patently false.
You and I likely have different definitions of making a play. Someone running into you and you tackling them is a PFF play.

I'm sure he's made A play somewhere, but he's not a play maker, not even close. He's an assignment sound guy

Bertrand hardly comes off the field. Kiser's position comes off the field often since we're in nickel a lot. What I don't quite get is why Kiser doesn't get more of the snaps currently taken by Marist.
Marist is longer and more athletic and better in space. Traits important in coverage, which is why you want a guy like Marist on the field. I’m surprised Bertrand doesn’t come off the field more in nickel in favor of Kiser. 🤷🏻‍♂️
