This is huge. Now give me a starting level guard or two, a d tackle and a difference making receiver

Fwiw, I like to see other board reactions when they lose out on a recruit. The Florida 247 staff writer thinks it’s a big miss for them and that Carter has top 3 round potential.
Not sure how other boards feel, but this quote from Matt Freeman's article references how the staff was able to big-foot LSU off of our campus...

He seems like a pretty unselfish kid and willing to do and play wherever to win

This is exactly what I was talking about. I would much rather a kid like this, who outplayed his competition level than a backup from somewhere else that lost his job. Super excited about this kid.

Read where Carter was 5-10 150 when he was recruited out of high school. Only had FCS offers.

Some guys just mature late.

Nice pick up by the Irish, with 2 years left of eligibility.

Last I read he was looking to visit LSU...not any more.

His highlight tape is a lot of fun to watch. Can't wait to hear how he's competing when he gets here. Seems like he should absolutely challenge and maybe even grab a starting position. This has to be amongst the most athletic/talented secondaries ND has had over the past 20 years.

He looks like he could be our 2nd best corner, which makes him even more intriguing since he's a safety. I think this is a big time get.

With Kelly having a car on campus waiting for him, I would have loved to see his reaction when has was told he wasn’t coming.

That dude isn’t living a stressed life….he knows what it takes and what it looks like. He’ll get it or he won’t…. Either way he went from rich to wealthy

Strongly disagree. It’s the other way around. He went from wealthy to rich. But I won’t explain it.
Character probably…. With that said he’s making more money at an easier job. Doesn’t mean he’s good enough but it is what it is. I think there is and or should be more incentive to be great at ND, but it’s a private university so I don’t know what they are. I think there is no university that profits more from being great at football than ND.

0% chance Kelly himself knows Of Carter or has seen his tape

Yeah, the real disappointment comes from the anonymous LSU GA that was trying to make a name for himself on the staff by getting this kid to visit in luxury style, with private car service from one visit, to the plane, then from the plane to LSU’s facility. He thought he was really doing something…

Probably getting made fun of in the LSU GA group chat now.

Is the car waiting outside any sort of normal occasion? Or just new in the portal era, or is this only know occurrence?

I'm pretty pumped about this transfer. Congrats Antonio!

I liked IB's breakdown of this kid; his fit, impact, etc. It keeps the freshmen from "having to" play barring a string of injuries. It also helps keep Harper in his Nickel role.

I see ND's secondary as being among the elite few in the country. PFF has them at, what, 6?

This board would have puked coat hangers had ND signed this guy out of high school. I hope the transfer portal shines a light on these smaller programs and the work their staffs do identifying talent. The glitz and glamour is less than the pay, and that's saying something.

Agreed. Not to mention the development that's obviously taking place. Any objective person should be ecstatic that ND is using the portal to upgrade the roster, regardless of the kid's recruiting profile out of high school. They SHOULD be targeting kids like this left and right. Some of us have been saying for years that ND needed to use certain schools as farm teams for stealing talent. Stanford, Northwestern, Wake, Duke, Vandy, etc. That should've been a no-brainer. Now the portal is basically wide open (with respect to ND's admissions obviously). They should absolutely be looking to make roster improvements based on real world results and not just recruiting projections.

It's going to make the food chain a lot more interesting. The smaller the school, the worse off you're going to be.

I assume as it all starts to roll down hill you see FCS programs digging into the D2 talent they may have passed on themselves. It's going to make for a fascinating new landscape in the sport.
