If we're looking to bolster the QB room for the open competition next year, maybe we can tamper a little and get Maalik Murphy. He looked really good for Texas in the spring game and reports out of practice were that he is really good. He might be in a QB battle next year, but he also might not if Ewers isn't quite good enough to go pro after next season. We could offer him the guarantee of a battle because Hartman is out of eligibility and no one else really has any experience.
He’s going to be highly sought after, going forward. Interested to see where he lands and how he does. Would be righteously funny if he outperforms both Ewers and Manning.

Buchners problem is he hangs onto the ball way too long and doesn’t know when to throw it away. The DL’s in the SEC will have a field day against him

My hot take is the Buchner being a run-first QB in Rees’ motion-heavy offense at Bama would actually work out for them, based on the athletes that would be surrounding him. Saban would have a full-time erection on the sidelines if he had a QB/OC situation that required Bama to run the ball 70% of the time.

They’d just run teams into the ground, and then get Buchner easy layups off of play action.

Of course, that’s IF TB could stay healthy.

We’ll see!
And if TB can hit the easy layups which remains to be seen

Bama with Buchner would be what 8-4 Auburn is every year when they don't have a QB that can throw the ball.

I'm not buying the Bama talk. They wouldn't settle for a QB like Buchner when they could get somebody with more experience and ability to pass.

The Bama 247 board is super dismissive of the Buchner rumors. It's going to be hilarious if he ends up there.

Find it incredibly hard to believe Milroe and Simpson aren't already better than Buch

So he’s gonna show up to Bama with no spring and win the starting job? What a weird move

I am wondering if subconsciously this is an act to tell ND to not get a Grad Transfer for next season...like they did this season. But I guess I am wrong TB actually wants out NOW. Wow.

How on earth could you take him back and not feel as though he will bolt if there are any changes to next year's QB Roster (i.e. Another Grad Transfer).

He is spent from ND's perspective - I would think.

Fucking crazy.

I don't blame TB for leaving. He's had a rough run at ND, so it makes sense to get a fresh start. In todays portal climate, I'm not sure any of us would sit the bench if we didn't have to. Good luck TB

It’s not debatable. Right now Sam Hartman is better
JJ had a really good year in a tougher conference. We will see how they both fair this year. I do hope Hartman does better though. We now are totally reliant on him.

Are these guys like Buchner getting contacted before they hit the portal? Isn't that tampering??

hes not coming back folks
He has a no-contact, so at this point I think it's probably an Alabama or nothing situation. If he likes what he hears from Tommy Tide, he's gone. If he doesn't, I think he'll be back.

I’m sure Rees likes Buchner but if Bama’s shopping the portal for a QB1 they would surely have better options, and if he’s willing to be QB2 why leave?

I don’t blame him for leaving. He needs live game reps badly and always has since his development in high school got sidetracked. At the same time, he’s going to get eaten alive at Bama and that would be a big mistake by him IMO.

So is Tommy going to guarantee him a starting spot? Because it would be pretty stupid to transfer to Alabama and sit on the bench.
He might like Tommy more than the current staff? He might want to play for Saban. He might just want out of ND. I thought he was well liked by the team though.

I'm praying he goes to Bama. The fact Tommy recruited a guy over him just to then bring him into another school is just too good.

Man Saban is really on the Tommy Rees train now.... LOL. You would think it would be the other way around.

I want to be in a bar packed full of passionate Bama fans showing a replay of the ND spring game on the big screen. Imagine how entertaining that would be.
