I agree completely. They knew the limitations of Buchner/Pyne which forced ND to run the ball. ND has an elite offensive line, an elite quarterback, a stable of good backs, and some good talent at WR. The offense should put vastly improved/put up more points.

I highly doubt you’ll see anymore ‘22 ND-Ohio State games (defense plays well, but the offense is hardly a threat to get a first down).
100%.

With Hartman in 2022, ND wins at OSU and wins running away v Marshall and Stanford. USC might even be interesting.

What are you smoking we had one of the top secondary’s last year and return just about everyone. Michigans favored to make the playoffs I like our team way more than them
Michigan is a very good team. Vegas would likely favor them over ND on a neutral field. That said, Notre Dame would absolutely have a shot. With the offensive line, Hartman, running backs, and decent WR talent,
No, your shtick is getting old because it’s always the same thing. We’ll never win the big one, we don’t recruit good enough, Freeman isn’t a great coach, our team is below average. If you would counteract your negativity with some positive comments that would be a different story. Clemson and USC I believe are wins for us. OSU is a toss up
Interesting. If anything, I’d say Ohio State is a more probable win than USC. Here’s to hoping ND wins both 🍻

Why is my shtick (thank you for the Yiddish) getting old? Because you don't like it? LOL.

I do not think ND will be favored in OSU, USC or Clemson games. I also think with an inexperienced OC and HC they will have a couple other games that could be losses too.

I think 9-3 is where most money will peg this season for ND. I am sorry it doesn't reflect your reality.
Where have I heard this before?

Oh that’s right, in all your other posts.

Well sorry you don't like what I have to say. I doubt with the constraints at ND that winning a Natty is in the cards. Blame that on the Admin for sure. Yes we are not gap closing or shopping down the same recruiting aisle as the elite programs.

Freeman certainly hasn't proved himself to be a great HC. Its early and I am hopeful as he is a likable fellow. But that doesn't mean he will be a great HC. He has to deal with ND's constraints like Kelly did. I have never said ND is "below average" so stop making shit up. LOL. I think all-in, ND is definitely a Top 25 program and hopefully Top 15 / Top 10.

The issue is the ND constraints put upon this storied program by the Administration. This offseason only exposed those constraints again.
Honestly, why come to a site and just be a dick. just be a dick with your family.

Michigan is a good team, Vegas probably would pick them by a few points, but we match up well for a slugfest, and they are one of the few "top" teams that does not have superior talent to ours on paper (unlike Georgia, Bama, OSU). Bring it on.

It’s not just about the players. Coaching also makes a difference and Harbaugh has proven himself to be a competitive HC in his career in the college ranks.

Sure. And as you say every other post, Freeman isn't as proven a head coach as some others (including one who got blown out the last time we played Michigan). But here we are. Do you actually think we couldn't beat Michigan? Seriously?

We do not have the dline and lbs for a slug fest… we would need to score. We got ran on when it mattered last year. It was disappointing

Yes on a good day we can beat them on a neutral site but they would be favored and have the better chance to win. We match up better w scUM than OSU, Clemson w Klubnick at home or USC.

I think we “could” but this was supposed to be the fall of UM with JH getting stood up at the alter with NFL. As much fun as their recruiting was to poke at they will be back recruiting well again. They will be a regular in the top 3 all year with the team coming back and that Charmin soft schedule. They have a hood chance of making the playoffs 3 years in a row. It’s not good for ND any way we shake it.

I really don’t blame this on MF but the Admin. On one hand you can’t have a stated goal is to compete for championships and then have so much tougher admissions, not investing in the program, have NIL on the backend and bungle off-season personnel moves. He is setup to fail.

Even if MF were to blame, that’s on the admin as well.

Do you realize that damn near everyone of your posts are the same? Nothing original or insightful. You just mix up the words but it always comes out the same.

After watching the bits of Sam I Am on our site, I say: We Good. Prognostication for the defense? Really good secondary --- "even" the safeties. Linebackers will be fine. DLine is where we will be taken to great levels or not. If those guys are as good as we have been for the last several seasons, all the rest will sparkle. I leave it to IE experts to let me know how the DLine will fare --- especially since in the past we have been able to rotate in AT LEAST two full lines who play at high levels. Our two lines (O&D) have been so enjoyably physical and unafraid of anyone, that it has been great to be an ND fan these years.

Offense? Sam I Am takes all our "almost there" receivers and gets them in the endzone. We don't have to have Fuller or Floyd (but if they still have eligibility come on back. Sam will just score in two plays rather than six or eight.) RBs are top level nationally --- in cumulation, and Estime maybe AA on his own. Sam I Am will MAKE the TEs replace Mayer --- They just have to block. So that leaves "my" guys. I still couldn't tell from the small replay (Thank You though for that!!!) what's going to go on there. Alt of course is great. Correll looked pretty good. I assume that Fisher did too, since the breakdowns seemed on the other side mainly. I tried to watch Schrauth --- hard to do since re-run back and forth was almost impossible. Most of the plays he seemed pretty good. Had him beside Alt unless I misread the numbers. An Alt/ Schrauth/ Correll "side" should be a good one. The vets should coach up the rookie. The other guard? You guys need to tell me. Who looked better at Right Guard? We have played powerful straight ahead mashers there for several years (Think Kraemer and Lugg types) and that has worked. Do we have a good replacement? If we do, the OLine should be a strength. Sam I Am makes it easier on them anyway, as he is so quick to see the read and deliver. Also, when speed rushes go fast wide, they don't seem to deflect his attention at all. When some interior pocket constriction occurs, he seems to rapidly notice it and step one step away and deliver. Gentlemen, even with Ian, I do not believe that we have seen this quite this smooth and quick.

So my three wishes:
A. Everybody stay reasonably healthy all season long, especially Sam I Am;
B. The Big Eaters of the DLine grow at least two deep everywhere and stay hungry all four quarters, as they have;
C. My Good Ol' Bigguns on the OLine put two Nasty, Intelligent, Not Quite Gentlemen into the guard positions, and
do our Quentin Nelson impersonations giving opponents very hard days.

.... and, for once, I don't see any reason why those things can't happen.
Dammit. Even at 82, I'm a little excited about this bunch. ... hope the system can take it:D
Honestly, to me it seemed like Rocco was the best guard during the game. I didn't really expect that, but he looked good.

Carr for QB 2025!

I thought '24 might be the year for a run if Carr came early, I didn't think we'd be ready in '23. This may be the year though for another strong run at the playoff. OL will be reloading some heavy hitters after this season. Hartman is here and is looking good. Receivers are getting more experienced and talented. Defense should be improved overall.

Georgia will still be tough. It's really difficult to win 2 back to back championships, and you have to be really good...however, getting motivated for a 3rd is pretty impossible, no one has done it recently. OSU will be breaking in a new QB and has some question marks. Who knows what Kelly will do with LSU in year 2, but I think we could beat them in the playoff if they make it. USC doesn't scare me, I think we find a way to contain Williams this time and score more points. Biggest question mark will be Alabama. They missed the playoff last year, Saban hasn't missed two in a row. If Alabama manages to have another down year this could be an opportune time to make a move.

CoachB thanks for the closer look. If I ever get a better way of viewing the game, I'll try to focus on him. Summer camp will be interesting if he and Schrauth emerge as the guards. ... sounds powerful.

Onye and Mills were putting some powerful bull rushes on Schrauth a couple times. Billy will need to clean that up.

I meant to post something earlier on this note. He looked really good in the run game, had a great block sealing off and opening a lane for I think Payne to have a nice run. Looked a little choppy/happy feet in pass pro, but I am prob the 3rd worst Oline evaluator on the board.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an oline expert but I thought he looked good. He also had a young 270lb (Wagner) tackle next to him. Some of the few slight issues I saw were pass offs. You'd have to think having fisher there would help that. I think Kristofic played fine, he just doesn't do much good or bad in my view.
