Meh, good riddance. He plays it down, but as the article says: Georgia takes care of business in the SEC championship, we're in. I doubt we're able to beat Georgia in the Semi's if they're still #1 and we're #4. I think we would have beaten Cincinnati in a rematch with the OL in better shape, and I think we beat Michigan.

I watched the couple of minutes he talked about ND. Really wasn't moved either way. Nothing new or interesting in the end. It really is beyond past tense at this point. An entire season was played without him.

Ten million a year makes the guy forget these sort of circumstances really quickly. He was nearly a playoff opt out. Good riddance is right.

Bishop or TTT, you have any info on this?
No idea. It's possible they got info that a game was fixed, but that's pretty rare. More likely is a pattern of betting drives the line in one direction, then at the last moment someone puts a LOT of money on the other side of that line... basically big money manipulating the spread.

Looks like former Bama baseball coach Bohannon was in direct contact with one or more people who placed some unusually large bets on Bama's opponent LSU. Not sure if Bohannon was giving them inside info on injuries and such, or was actively involved in making sure Bama lost, but either way, that's a HUGE no-no. His coaching career is OVER. He'll be lucky to ever get a job as an assistant at the HS level after this.

Liberty will probably hire him.

WTF...how does that happen?! What a dumbass.
People made a lot about Stroud's testing scores at the Combine, what were Bennett's?

Edit: S&D appears to be correct and Bennett did graduate with a degree in economics.

It's being handled but no one wants to say how. That's Bobby Bowden FSU 1990s vibe. They probably ran until they puked and that was it.

I actually respected Bowden as a person and coach. Kirby, no way...

Don't get me wrong, he's a good coach and one hell of a recruiter, but he knows his job at Georgia is to win championships. That's it. He's not molding these athletes and teaching them right and wrong. Georgia fans were starving for one after seeing Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, and neighboring Clemson all win one (some multiples). Kirby will do whatever it takes and bring anyone on board that'll keep that process rolling.

However, in an effort to not totally bag on Kirby, Georgia is really no different than most of the elite football programs. If a kid has academic issues and character flaws, but is 6'5, 250 lbs. and can run a 4.3, Kirby's turning the other cheek. I presume most schools (not all) would do the same as well.

Uh, yeah, I'd bury a body or two for someone like this if he ever existed. Feel free to judge me.

Tim Wilson was spot on with Bobbeh Bawden.

[EDIT] I remember when we played FSU around '02 or '03 at home. Bobby stood on the sideline away from the rest of the team most of the time. He had a headset on, but it didn't seem like he said much at all. He wasn't talking to players or anything. He was basically a figurehead, I'm pretty sure the coordinators ran the whole show at that point.

There seems to be a strong belief that you are correct. Mickey Andrews, Mark Richt and Chuck Amato were all but doing it in the mid to late 90s. Mickey Andrews was Bobby's guy for decades.

By 2003 Jeff Bowden was the OC but Andrews was still there. Jeff Bowden only worked for his father at FSU and for Terry at North Alabama and Akron. He's totally out of coaching by 2018. Jimbo Fisher replaced him and he ran the show with Andrews until Bobby retired.

1987-2000 was about as crazy of a run as it got back then. Then from 2001-1009 he had one double digit win season to finish out his career.

I want a 9 game conference, but I understand why the SEC voted for this.

SEC football format for 2024 only:
  • Single division
  • 8 conference games
    • 1 permanent opponent, with 7 rotating
  • 1 non-conference game with power 5 opponent
  • Again, just for 2024 only
ESPN wouldn't fork over additional money, so the votes were for 8 conference games as opposed to 9.

I read this as SEC is holding ESPN/Disney's feet to the fire. They are desperate for content, and this will force them the negotiate.

I wonder if the SEC will try and get out of its existing 10-year deal? ESPN said they wouldn't pay over the current deal. As such, this gives the SEC time to shop around and force ESPN's hand or leave all together.

Rumors that A&M will get home games with UGA and Texas. Add in their game against ND and that is a terrific home slate.
