Singer had along discussion on this. He also clearly thinks this was a setback with Justin's recruitment. Yes denial is going on at this Board. What a shocker.

There are mixed reports from the ND recruiting insiders.

But the consensus was that Scott's abrupt announcement of committing on his birthday was a rushed decision. It appears he was overly excited when ND came to visit him and reacted in the moment as opposed to thinking more rationally.

ND has an effect on him. He realized that he would of been committing prematurely. I think that's something we can all take away from it. We will see how this plays out. At this time, I don't believe there is enough concrete evidence to adequately say that this will be a downfall towards NDs chances with him.

No one’s in denial. Clearly pushing back a commitment date that was going to be for the Irish is a step back. But there doesn’t need to be an overreaction that this is over. And clearly he’s doing the right thing to take his visits and make an informed decision by not rushing.

On3 rankings are getting crazier by the year. I like Scott, but if he's 7th right now, this is not a good recruiting class...

If we're talking fully realized potential 5 years from now, maybe. But in no way has Scott done anything to merit a #7 ranking.

Listened to Clint Cosgrove of Rivals relay a conversation he had w/ Scott early in his recruitment. He had just gotten an Illinois offer & Cosgrove asked him what would be an offer he would love to receive. After thinking about it, he said Georgia. Point was he’s been following Georgia closely enough to know it’s a school that can check all the boxes for him (not necessarily his mom who prefers an elite academic program).

Agreed. He's a local kid for me and it's great, but I'm not at all on the hype train here. Time may prove me wrong, but I'm failing to see the justification here.

This is only going to get certain pockets of this fanbase all wound up about absolutely having to sign him.

He shouldn't be a 5* in my opinion but I'm glad he is and I'm glad ND's got a good shot.

I would have taken his commitment though. Leading from the front with a "locked in" local kid is completely different than trying to stay on top of a FL or TX kid who can't jump on a train every day and be at SB airport 2 hrs later.

I definitely was not blown away by his film. He is very big, but something about him...doesnt speak elite to me.

He's still raw. He's only played two years of football.

He's way more athletic than I initially thought, I will say that. He really moves for a dude his size, which is why people are liking him so much with the rankings and such.

i watch so many podcasts from various people on youtube that i can't remember who said it but somebody a month or two ago said that he has 5 star talent but just takes a lot of downs off as he just doesn't seem to want to play hard on every snap

I would imagine most big-time college coaches think they can get him over that.

I want the dudes who bust chops on every down. That's effort and conditioning.

If Scott winds up in the correct situation, the sky's the limit for him. He's got an athleticism that very few dudes his size possess. He's played ball for only two years and basketball was his first sport.

He's big, he's got good feet. Much of the rest is up to him and the refinery comes with good coaching. Wherever he ends up, he's likely not going to be coached for all 3-4 years by the same guys that recruited him. That's where proximity to home and the ND degree come in.

I'm hopeful here and while I still think he's overrated, I still think he's really good and there is more talent in him down the road than there is now. That's what these rankings seem to be based on.

I'm not sweating this too much, because ND is looking very good for Lindsey.

As long as they get 1 of 2, that's great to me. If they end up with both, even better.

Take both! Cant let someone with scott’s potential escape. Let him be your boom or bust

The burst is lacking.
There's no explosion off the snap to this untrained eye.
That being said, bring him in and coach him up!

Is there a specific point or two in the highlights you can use as an example?
Again, I’m no expert. It just feels like he’s a second behind after the ball is snapped. Maybe it’s him being cautious to not jump, but it makes him look slow off the ball.

It's hard to really pick out a lack of burst because he's just plowing over people and getting into the backfield. Mind you, this is 3:23 of strategically compiled highlights, but you can't deny the athleticism that we get to see.

Going back and watching some of the previous stuff, yes, this is a big body who has only been playing football for two years but I'm slightly more impressed than I was before.

I don't think he's a five star player at this moment but absolutely has the room to be one.
