I'm all for Holtmann, if for nothing else than being able to tell all my OSU friends OSU is a stepping stone job. If he's willing to take on what he's going to walk into, more power to him.
One of the constant complaints about Brey from his detractors is that he hasn't had success in the tournament. Holtmann, despite an easier path with less hurdles, has been worse. Piggybacking on the success of Stevens/Miller at Butler and then Motta at OSU for his best results doesn't instill a lot of confidence that he's a good fit at ND. But to each their own.LOL at those wanting a proven coach that can get beyond the 2nd round of the tournament with regularity.
Our program is currently a dumpster fire. If there is a coach that wants to jump aboard that up till this year had 7 straight appearances in the big dance, you take that without a second thought.
The coach isn't the barrier to getting talent on campus. See: Hillman, Brandyn.Holtman's '22 class included 4 top 70 recruits and '23 class includes 3 top 50 recruits. Man will increase the talent level if nothing else.
IIRC, Holtmann has had to deal with with a lot of injuries since going to OSU.But so is Holtmann, despite having more resources and less administrative hurdles.
Not sure I agree that it's going to take time. All it takes is 1 or 2 players to change the trajectory quickly. Regardless of who is selected, I will be happy to see the coach go more than 6-7 deep with playing time. lolI see your point and tend to agree. I think I am happy with Holtmann. I just think one of the others like Shrewsbury have a higher ceiling which I'd prefer given it's going to take time to rebuild.

L pplShrewsberry, Devries, or Langel (Colgate) per Prister
Word is speading it will be one of those three. All are playing this weekend (and probably not beyond). Shrewsberry is the most coveted but Penn St might give him a big contract and keep him. Geprgetown wants him and its unclear if he prefers ND to them. Probably will come down to the interviews. Warm fuzzy feeling there LOL.Shrewsberry, Devries, or Langel (Colgate) per Prister
Would Georgetown have the money? How much was Ewing making?L ppl

Langel is bound for Temple unless ND strikes quickly. Haven't seen much re Devries. Unlike Shrewsberry, those two are at schools that will not be able to compete with ND money wise.
They're trying to lure Cooley away from Providence which will cost 4 mill give or take. If Cooley says no they're pretty much obligated to off option #2 (Shrewsberry) something close.Would Georgetown have the money? How much was Ewing making?
I was arguing about Shrewsbury last night with my Penn State buddy. He said that none of the open jobs (ND, St. John's and Georgetown) are better than Penn State and that Penn State will give him whatever money he wants to stay.
I was arguing that all 3 of them are better and will pay him just as much if not more, so he's an idiot if he stays at Penn State.
Exactly. He can get paid by Penn State, but he's looking at a ton of first or second round exits (at best). The floor there is occasionally making the tournament and the ceiling is occasionally getting lucky and making the Sweet 16.ND and Georgetown are definitely better jobs. And Penn St is about to be an even worse job than it already is when UCLA and USC join the Big Ten. He would be wise to get out now while his stock is high.

At this point hoping for Shrewsbury but expecting Devries. Either way, needs to be done by early week to stop the bleeding
Idk why anyone would want Wichita at this point, either. They decided they were too big for The Valley, and now they’re just some obscure regional university that will occasionally pop up every now and then when discussing Cinderella stories in March.I saw somewhere that DeVries killed his Wichita St interview yesterday and is expected to be their next coach. I don’t know how reliable to source was I’d have to find it again.

There’s no blood left. It’s a lifeless corpse at this point. At this point hoping for Shrewsbury but expecting Devries. Either way, needs to be done by early week to stop the bleeding
Soooo that didn’t take long…
Short jaunt from The Villages…Actually makes perfect sense for someone that wants to retire.
