Yep, and we didn't get it quite right either initially. Quite reasonably we decided that he needed a season to grow. Then we had all of that ridiculous trouble at Left Tackle with injury after injury plus some lack-of-readiness by the then third-stringer. A few games into the season, and we (near desperation) put the "allegedly too young" Joe Alt in there, and he instantly solved the problems.

Not really, he was a 240lbs TE coming out of HS
While he was somewhat of a late bloomer he wasn't that lite. He left HS in the 280-290 range. As a HS Junior he was already up to 260+. He played his entire Senior year as a legitimate OT prospect. 247 took notice and gave him a meaningful bump. Others just didn't.

This article is May of 2020 where his Dad says he's at 260.

247 which did update his eval after his Senior season had him at 283.

Man, the recruiting services really misread this ranking.
Really, really makes no sense in retrospect. He was 6’7” his senior year and his dad is in the Chiefs HOF as a LT. Not saying he should’ve been a 5 star, but still.

It would have been good to have Skoronski but that would have meant less Alt so it was a blessing.

Is Diggs thinking Bama? If so my feelings about their OC moves to loathing.
Doubt it. Some people are so invested in Rees that they assume everyone else is as well. I'd say Diggs heads back home.

We know that this guy got it right on Alt, and we have happy thoughts that he hopefully has it right on Fisher.
If Fisher has the McGlinchey "jump", or even the Eichenberg "jump" between seasons, Sam I Am will have the best protector brackets in the business. Still, keep your fingers crossed on the Fisher jump.

Fish will make the jump IMO. He’s already dropped some weight.

I'd make sure we're paying this guy enough. If Diggs follows Buchner to Alabama...
The last I saw was Alt going 4th or 6th in next years NFL draft, he will make plenty in the NFL. In my opinion I don't think NIL is the biggest deal for Alt.

How much would Alt be offered by another team a la Michael Mayer last year?

Brock Bowers love is a little ridiculous too.

Mayer had more catches, yards & TDs last year, and was a much better blocker, all while be double & triple covered & everyone knew that’s where the ball was going, while Bowers was always 3rd option…but people still have Bowers all the rewards.

I only really follow the ND players in the NFL, how is Kyle Pitts going in the NFL? Are he and Brock Bowers similar?
