Bigger issue for me is are our wrs this bad at reading coverage? Wtf did Thomas (pretty sure it’s Thomas) not sit it down at the 40 for easy 8 yard gain minimum? Cb was clearly 1-1 , way off, and playing for deep pass. He gave Hartman no option but to tuck it and run. Defense played tyree and Tobias well.

After his little hop step fake, if he plants his foot in the ground and turns like he should, simple pitch and catch.

No clue how he reads go route here, made same mistake earlier

The only thing I can come up w/ is that the rusher got turned around and his back was to Alt for a moment. But I assumed that would be block in the back not a hold. It’s so arbitrary since it can be called on nearly every play, yet this one was clear that this player was not holding.

Rightttttt...... Do we not want to see improvements at the WR position from a coach that is supposedly really good.

I want to believe stuckey is more than just a good recruiter, but our WRs did poor vs their only good competition.

you can block in the back as long as the runner isn't past the person you are blocking. He wasn't.

Official had to of thought or maybe "hoped" Alt pulled him down to make him fall. He didn't.

A video gets posted of our WR making a bone head read, leading to our QB having to scramble and get hit, and a phantom holding call made. If he makes the right simple read at the WR position we have a first down most likely and no holding call.

It's a great, rare, opportunity to discuss a real play that was captured for a different reason. That's what football junkies love to do. Most videos you see are highlights. This was not one. We also had 7 in to block 4 rushers and due to Thomas poor read, that wasn't good enough. If hartman goes right he probably gets a few more yards and not hit as hard. He had all day to the right.

Hopefully we see huge improvements on our reads vs OSU because our WRs will be 1-1 with DBs a lot!

Sorry that discussing football plays is exhausting to you, on a football message board.

Yes..... If you're 1-1 with a corner, and the corner continues to play deep off you, you break off route for easy throw from QB.

It's typically installed during a players frosh or sophmore year in high school. This was his second time making the same mistake, hartman threw it the first time with no one there.

Yes there are instances like 3rd and long or hail mary, or you're trying to clear a corner out, where it's go deep no matter what, but this was first and 10 with no other ND players in the vicinity.

I realize i'm being a little bit of a prick, but i'm taken back by the frustration of dissecting a play where our WR made a pretty big mistake, and it's the second one he made just like that in the same half. Maybe i made an illegal post since it's in a joe alt thread.

I'm paying a lot of attention to our WR play, we need it to be good to win it all, it's not good right now.
