One more year.
He gone. Many mock drafts were recently updated, and given that we're at the end of the season there probably won't be a lot that changes till combine season. All the mock drafts I've seen have him as a Top 10 pick. In some he goes as the first OL off the board, but some have Fashanu going first. Fashanu is very good, but I think Alt is a bit better. That's a different discussion.

Why is everyone in such a hurry to grow up?
Stay in school... enjoy your youth for as long as you can.

They’re both gone IMO
Probably.
Fisher has been getting bad advice from someone.
First, he lost too much weight, which really affected his strength.
Now he is looking to declare.
His size, strength, quickness & technique were near perfect his Freshman camp.
He got worse under HH, and way too big. Then dropped too much of the weight.
His original 330 was about perfect for him.
Going up to near 350, then all the way down to 315 were both mistakes.

Agreed
He’s made it clear he wants to play in the NFL. Pure speculation but I believe his mind was made up prior to the season. I agree w/ Prister in that he’ll get drafted in a later round but earlier than fans predict b/c of his size and get rag-dolled his first year or two on a roster. If he played the long game and got better he likely earns generational wealth but I also realize he‘s one play away from a career altering injury. Best of luck to him. He’s going to need it.

there was a rumour or suggestion that fisher did not like Rudolph. What came of that rumour?

Hard to say he got worse under HH when he was injured for all but 2 games in 2021, not much to base his prior performance on. Harry was probably the best coach he had, jury is still out on Rudolph but the results haven't been great so far. We already know Jeff Quinn didn't cut it.

Man, I really thought this was going to be a post about coming back next year.

In all sincerity, I loved watching him play. I found myself watching him occasionally on plays and I never watch lineman live. He deserves everything good that he will get in his career. I hope that whatever team picks him up will have a good coaching/GM staff to put a talented team around him.

He's going to be a regular All-Pro and Pro Bowl guy. I'd say he's the third best OL since the start of the Kelly Era behind Martin and Nelson, two future Hall of Famers.
This will most likely end up being true, but I could see him being the best of all of them. Alt was a TE just a few years ago and has already blossomed into a spectacular LT. I don’t think he has gotten anywhere close to his ceiling yet. Joe Thomas vibes.

Rest assured....the Bears will be one
They have greater needs than OT. They start an LOT who was drafted in 2022 and a ROT that was drafted this year. They both hold up pretty well as of now. Plus whoever misses on Alt could have access to draft Fashanu.

WR, Corner, Edge, Interior OL, RB and possibly QB yet again are likely areas of focus going into this offseason. OT likely not one of those. They could potentially trade out of the first pick again. They could trade Fields and take Williams then get a WR. There are different scenarios.

Big changes have happened with the Commanders and there are going to be more after the season. If they have a Top 5 pick, hard to see Alt getting past them. They need that franchise LOT again, which they have not had since Trent Williams.

Yeah I'm with you, I would love Alt but if the Bears are in a position to draft Alt, it's possible they could get Marvin Harrison Jr instead or Nabors out of LSU and another top WR is a much bigger need for this team. I don't think anyone could have guessed it before this season, but OT ain't a position of need for the Bears right now. Your list and mine are mostly the same but I'd go with Safety over Corner with the expectation that Jaylon Johnson gets extended and Eddie Jackson is cut (since his cap savings would mostly pay for Jaylon's contract).

Right now the Bears are First and Fifth.

Patriots, Commanders, Titans, Jets, Chargers, Saints, Rams all probably have OT higher on their needs list and all of them right now are selecting in the Top 15.

Some teams are going to pass on Alt and it has nothing to do with them being incompetent, hating on ND prospects or whatever. Alt will become a millionaire just like Michael Mayer and everyone's lives are going to press onward.
