Freeman may have plugged leaks (by eventually getting rid of Rees for example) but in return he gave the media a lot more press conferences with staff last year I thought. Under BK we never seemed to hear from the coordinators but now it’s weekly.
Of course that is no good for the neat writers who survive off inside material so BKs system was ideal for them.

My take rightly or wrongly is that:
247 has the most access, but are the biggest homers
Driskell is the most honest, but least plugged in
Rivals is still around
on3 is Sports Illustrated for Kids

Tom Loy says, hold my beer

Driskell actually used his Twitter to promote the GoFundMe for Mickey's mom. I'll give him props for that one. Even a broken clock is right twice a day I guess.

After their tirade, I think that IB will have even less access to Notre Dame than before. I don't think they will be in Marcus Freeman's good graces either. My favorite site is II and overall, I think they do a nice job.

I'm not on this board as often as I used to be, where does the Loy hate come from? I'm not defending him, just curious.
I didn't really have a huge issue with him until all of the recent coaching searches. It showed that Rees was his source and he's got nothing after Rees left. But then a major development would happen reported by a national person, and he'd say something like "I knew this and was asked to keep quiet." or "This candidate was definitely on my list of 15 people to watch." He's just slowly morphing into a troll for likes

Goolsby discusses "whispers about golden leaving" at 18:14
Ahhh. He does mention that there for a second. Thought that was pretty much debunked with the Bengals DC not getting the Cardinals head coaching job. I think Goolsby was mentioning that more in the vein of "Freeman needs to build consistency with the staff staying on to coach." As in not having whispers about coaches leaving every offseason as that hurts the continuity of the staff.

What was the tirade? Was it Bryan Driskell and was it on YouTube / podcast? Do you mind sharing or providing the date and subject matter?

Thanks

Are you talking about Driskell defending his Intel that Swarbrick initially was told the buyout was like $450K based on Ludwig's old contract and when he heard his current contract was $2.8MM he balked at the buyout. That ND tried to "Negotiate with Utah" and were stymied and then Ludwig decided to stay at Utah and pull out consideration based on Swarbrick and Admin balking....

I actually believe this intel because Swarbrick's letter to the boosters seems to reflect this being possible. The only more weird letter I have read recently was the Jonetbene Ramsey's ransom letter....

For all the talk of different media members not having sources, I'll share an interesting tidbit about ISD tomorrow and how they worked harder to get the scoop on Luke. Some people assumed this info filtered through Brice but it actually didn't. I'll also share why Luke did not take the job.

IMO, what you'll see eventually is guys like those at ISD and Loy, who is also a hard worker, will continue to develop sources/information after some time because they're professionals. Professional reporting is not easy and it doesn't come from being a fan.

Others likely won't and will get stuck recycling information. I doubt the level of symbiosis that some had before with the old regime will return, but all media operates on a system of trust and two-way value. So there will certainly be new bridges built over time and many still exist.

Now THAT is how you tease a story!
