Wait, are we intending to throw shade at a potential portal guy? one who we had a previous relationship with? or is this the requisite lashing he needs in order to come back?

or do we expect he goes elsewhere?

All of this is on the assumption that he indeed enters the portal as some people have posted.

Bitterness or not, a 20 year old (I believe?) with 3 years of eligibility in the 2023 WR room is completely different than a 19 year old with 4 years of eligibility in the 2022 WR room.

Not like he’s lost all value, but that was kinda a notable part of it.

He isn't proven production. It's just adding another inexperienced guy with a propensity to flee to the greenest pasture to take reps away from a pool of young and inexperienced guys who made Notre Dame their first choice.
This is where I’m at after he kinda clowned us last year….. Pass and develop the guys that want to be here. Not like he tore it up anyway

Not saying ND should pursue him, but I think they at least should make a call.

I guess I'm saying they should pursue him, actually.
Given the asinine requirements for undergrad transfers, I highly doubt he'd be able to make it through admissions.

It's easier if you are a freshman. All ND students undertake a First Year of Studies, before specializing into their chosen majors. Having no declared major helps ND here.

Even if his credits don't transfer over, he could just apply as a normal high schooler would. But, meaning he would start off right from the beginning academically.

I could be wrong here, however.

We never should've recruited him in the first place. What is attractive about a slow, short, overaged, and overcoached California skill player?

Singer is saying that a source "isn't shutting it down... there may be something to see here."

He just entered the portal, everything is fresh and could likely change tomorrow, so no one should dive too deep into this.

He had the highest floor out of all the receiver commits that we had committed at one point last year. Ceiling may not be as high, but he would likely have played regardless of the depth.

I bet he reaches out. I’d be perfectly fine with MFMF telling him no.

Williams' concerns were more directed at Del Alexander. He believed Del could only produce & develop bigger, boundary receivers, given his track record of Skowronek, McKinley, Boykin & Claypool.

That seems fair, TBH. But did he really think Del would survive the coaching turnover?

I dunno. Maybe if Styles leaves you take a run at CJ here. Otherwise I'm not sure we need him?

Wasnt distance the issue to begin with? The UCLA rumors make sense if that is the case.

Rather have Tyree in the slot.

Its weird how this time last year everybody was losing their shit that he went elsewhere and how could our coaches let this happen, and he was an advanced route runner who would challenge for PT immediately.

Now a year later and nobody wants him because he made very limited contributions to a passing game that far exceeded ours and had dynamic upperclassmen WRs include last years Biletnikoff winner.

Lots of scorned wives in here. It would be foolish to not kick tires and see about getting him here if there is interest. We still have a Sophomore to be class with ONE wide receiver in it, and honestly no true proven production coming back outside of maybe the incoming transfer.

Styles may or may not bounce back, Thomas is trending up but not explosive. Colzie had flashed here and there but who knows if he or thomas take a big step forward. Tobias is still young and unproven although the potential is there. Who knows how the freshman end up, but the odds of all hitting are pretty low. I think we have to throw as much against the wall as possible at WR and see what sticks.

To be fair look back in the thread, Lax never really like CJ

He also kinda shit on Rees and Angeli on the way out, at least unintentionally. Del isn’t, but they are both still here.

My post wasnt really directed at LAX just to clarify. Just the overall consensus in here.
