What’s worse is that Rees had both McCarthy and Buchner throw for him and picked Buchner. McCarthy is on track to be a day 2 pick for the NFL (or better).

Funny how everyone has turned on Buchner. When we signed him it was all lollipops and rainbows. Kid has barely played, and he started against some really good defenses. I still believe he’ll be great.

It seems like a weird “hot” take to point out we’d have a better record with anyone else than we did with Pyne, our backup QB. We’d be better than 8 - 4 with a lot of QBs.

It’s mainly because his throwing motion went to shit his senior year and hasn’t been addressed in the two years since. It’s the accuracy/touch problems that have made people sour on him.

Marshall also had handful of weaknesses, but defense was not one of them. JJ wasn’t gonna be tackling their RB, which we chose not to do that day.

IMO we are likely 9 - 3, maybe 10 - 2 with JJ. But it’d answer the same with about any starting QB you give me.

Yep. Stanford was on Pyne (and the limitations he imposed on our offense). Beyond that I’m not sure the Ws and Ls are much different if we have McCarthy (or Buchner) back there, tho probably Navy wouldn’t have been so close and maybe USC would’ve been closer.
