Appreciate post forthcoming.

Maybe he plays in the bowl game, maybe he doesn't. But, who would have thought that the guy who blocked a punt against Stanford in his freshman year (which he redshirted), would go onto become ND's all-time sack leader.

Career Stats: 123 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 26.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles
A couple blocked punts and fgs (pats) too

Foskey absolutely played his heart out tonight. Some of his pursuit tackles were insane. The man was literally all over the field tonight. Impressive!

I reckon if USC dont recover the fumble by some miracle in the first drive ND wins.

Tuck has always been a great role model for the university. I'm sure Foskey will carry on that tradition.

ND has had 10 DL drafted in the last 10 years:
  1. KLM (2013, rd 6)
  2. Stephon Tuitt (2014, rd 2)
  3. Louis Nix (2014, rd 3)
  4. Sheldon Day (2016, rd 4)
  5. Isaac Rochell (2017 rd 7)
  6. Jerry Tillery (2019, rd 1) :censored:
  7. Khalid Kareem (2020, rd 5)
  8. Daelin Hayes (2021, rd 5)
  9. Ade Ogundeji (2021, rd 5)

I think Foskey is a late 1st / early 2nd round talent. Between him and Mayer, we might see two ND players drafted in the first round for the first time since 2018 (Q and McGlinchey)

Ryan Roberts mentioned on a IB podcast yesterday, after the news on Mayer, that some scouting circles in the NFL have Foskey as a fringe Top-100 player. Consistently being the key reasoning why.

I don't see it. He's a good athlete, with good size, and high-level production . Even with the consistency issues, he's a fringe first rounder in my eyes. I'd be shocked if he's picked outside the Top 50.

I expect him to be a first rounder. He's going to kill it at the combine and his draft stock will only increase.

The all time sack leader at ND, and a great leader and person off the field. Thanks for everything Isiah! Can't wait to see him tear it up on Sundays (or Thursdays...or Mondays)

The man has the intangibles. He will set a standard in the clubhouse and won’t embarrass his employer. If I was a team manager he would be the character is would be looking for. Same for Mayer

i dont really understand skipping a CFB bowl game and then kitting up for the Senior Bowl..isn't the injury risk the same, if not worse?
I was wondering the exact same thing....as someone who has always defended the players' rights to sit out a bowl game to protect their draft status, this s a puzzling decision.

The senior bowl is coached by NFL coaches and is kind of an extended interview for NFL teams. If Foskey didn't get the draft grade that he expected/wanted then this makes perfect sense.

yea, but you're being coached by NFL guys and the scouts are all over the place. Less mileage overall on snaps maybe too. Who knows

Signing up for a bowl game is also signing up for a month of team practices. With the Senior Bowl, Foskey can train on his own and will also get out of multiple weeks worth of hitting.

It's a good point about the Senior Bowl, but generally I feel like it's a different animal because players aren't playing for the win, they're playing for scouts. Think of it as the Pro Bowl, nobody really cares which side wins so you're not going to see a bunch of cheap shots, you're not going to see late hits, that sort of thing. Players will be physical, but they're also not out to hurt anyone and there's no rivalries.

The Senior Bowl is the first interaction these players can get from NFL coaches and scouts. It’s less about the game and more about the practices, interviews. Participating in the Senior Bowl can elevate players draft positioning. If Foskey was projected late 1st then participating in the Senior Bowl can move up him to the top half of the 1st. Coaches and scouts will get to see how big/small a player truly is and will be able to identify nuances you may miss on film.

An incredibly logical next step for Foskey.

This. The coverage of the Senior Bowl can be incredibly valuable. I’ve read a lot in recent years that GM’s and coaches find it a more holistic eval than the combine.
