anyone do any sort of punch or whatever for thanksgiving/christmas?

I did a real old school Wassail a few years ago for Thanksgiving that was basically this:

Be warned, it came out very dry for me. Much less sweet than I was anticipating, but still delicious and a big hit.

I'm thinking about doing some sort of clarified punch this year for Christmas.

we tend to do Cadillac margaritas for Christmas... it's not traditional but we do a lot of Mexican food for Christmas anyway so it fits for us.

Got my hands on some Heady Topper.

Jiminy Christmas…super hop forward on the nose.

Nice hop flavor with nicely balanced bitterness.

8% ABV but went down as smooth and easy as a Pilsner.

Scary drinkable.

Dry as a bone on the finish and not a hint of any weird aftertaste that some IPA’s tend to have.

A Perfect IPA. Worth a trip to Vermont. Lol.

Together Again IPA from Anchorage.

Pretty good.

A bit too flowery on the nose and sweet on the palate and on the finish for my liking.

Maybe after having a couple Alchemy IPA’s and Pliny available locally I’ve become a bit of a beer snob?

Heady Topper is one of my favorites. Guy local to me makes trips up to grab as much as he can. I usually try to snag a 4 pack from him.

In laws came over to hang out with the grandkids today and randomly got me a bottle of Dewars 15. So I’m working on that while enjoying a Perdomo champagne cigar

Have some Blackland and Garrison Brothers too,… I’d still say Yellow Rose is my fav Texas bourbon thus far.

Do you note any differences worth mentioning???

Definitely. I believe that I have 10 or 11 different releases of it and while they are all somewhat similar there is definitely some variation.
2021: like sitting by a nice fire outside with grilled lemons and grilled shrimp. A hit of tar and seaweed as well.
2022: more heavy handed. Lots of vanilla. Now sitting on a fishing boat. Coal smoke, diesel, tar, smoked fish and brine.

Both are good, I have a preference for the 2021.

A local taproom near where I live manages to get their hands on some Alchemist beers once a year. Got two four packs. Down to my last one. Probably gonna cry when I finish it. Lol.
