Irish eating at that Spartan soul late! Let’s go! “Spartans playing with six” yeah, well so are the Irish.

I’m gonna go ahead and say it. JJ needs to work on the threes, but in my 20+ years of watching ND basketball I don’t remember a player as deadly and consistent once he gets within 5 feet of the basket.

Wesley was deadly getting to the basket but he had trouble finishing. JJ does not have trouble. He’s gonna open up 3s for this team that we have been missing for years

Team looked sharp tonight. This team has a good mixture of seniors with stud freshmen mainly Starling. Impressive victory.

FTs, too, but he is unbelievably good at attacking the basket and finishing like you said. I'm sure as the season wears on, he'll figure it out. He's going to be another one and done like Wesley.

You shut your mouth when talking about one and done lol. I hope not. We are gonna really really need him next year

Trust me I hope I'm wrong but he's just so good and getting to the hoop, I'm sure he'll get a shot.

TBH, I wonder if he got a similar grade as Wesley if he would go? That seemed like a 50/50 type decision to me last year.

Ya agreed I think he would prob get around the same grade. He would be the main guy next year if he decided to come back so does he want to be the main guy at ND or go to NBA and prob be a bench guy but bringing money home. Tho he will have NIL money next year but not the same.

I agree, especially defensively and rebounding (finally). They didn't give Sparty many second chance points and they have a pretty physical big man in Sissoko.

Also, ND is going to live and die by the 3 this year and when you get a guy like Cormac who's playing lights out (6/7 from behind the arc) ND is going to be tough to beat. Sparty made it a point of emphasis to stop him in the second and it opened up a lot of opportunities for guys like Goodwin to attack. Goodwin is pretty incredible from the low block for a guard, love when he bodies up his defender and attacks in the post.

I am withholding from forming a true opinion on this team until I see what they look like with Hammond. The loss was brutal but last night was the performance we've been waiting for. As is right now, I am sticking with this team is going to win and lose some games that they shouldn't.

Yeah, I agree they'll likely be inconsistent but again, the early returns this year are better than last year, and that was a tournament team.

But I'm trying to temper expectations given the fact that MSU was coming off of a weekend tournament and have been on the road for a while, plus they were down two players with expanded roles. Fatigued + 6 man rotation is not a recipe for success.

We got Sparty at the right time, but we did exactly what you should do against a team who is coming in with a disadvantage. That game was never close.

If Blake would've only stayed...this team would be a top 10 team and with Wesley/Starling at the guard that would've been Brey's best combo at ND.

Nice win vs. Michigan St. Bring on the Orange today.

Ya, that would have been interesting...Hopefully not a bad thing to show that ND will still bring you in, even if you are one and done.

can't believe after beating a pretty decent spartans team that we are now on the verge of possibly losing to a bad 3-4 cuse squad

Team is lost against this 2-3 zone. Makes no sense how Brey couldn’t coach them up after facing Syracuse 30+ times over the last 20 years

Welp that really really sucks. Can’t win when your best scorer scores 2pts and goes 1-7.

That's a tough loss. The ACC has not been good out of conference. They probably won't get many teams in the tourney. The Irish simply can't afford to lose to teams like cuse, especially at home. Just a Bad Loss!

We let them turn it into a walk it up and lob it into the post game. Brey must have thought Laz could handle Edwards inside and we’d hit long threes vs their zone. Wrong on both counts.
On the rare occasion we got into our offense quickly we did ok. We have the athletes to play faster but we don’t.
